Location/Description:
Built as a private sporting estate, Bovey Castle is located in the heart of Dartmoor National Park. Today, privately owned by Peter de Savary, the Castle and Estate have undergone a complete restoration programme.
The Castle offers 65 luxuriously appointed bedrooms and 14 lodges, each individually styled with elegant simplicity. Grand reception rooms overlook the formal gardens and parkland beyond.
Our new, specially designed holistic spa is complemented by our spectacular pool. Other sporting pursuits include fly-fishing, falconry, archery and horse riding.
The Golf Course, now know as Bovey Castle, was first opened in June 1930, quickly gaining a national reputation as one of the most enjoyable places to play golf, a reputation based on a combination of glorious setting and varied challenge.
The course was designed by the distinguished JF Abercromby as a sister course to Gleneagles and Turnberry and has been restored by the noted course designers, Donald Steel and Tom Mackenzie.
The latest improvements to the course have rejuvenated it dramatically after many years of under-investment. As well as renewing the drainage and irrigation systems, tees were added, greens restored to their original sizes, bumkers rebuilt and crucial fairways levelled off.
The updated course measuring 6303 yards for day-to-day play has a demanding par of 70.
