My wife and I played Mellor last week on a 2-4-1 Voucher i.e. £15 Pound each mid-week. The first few holes are not long but require negotiating carefully. Hole 6 starts the 'climb' towards the 'summit'. Holes 7, 8 & start of Hole 9 will definitely get your lungs and heart working but manageable!! But what views on the way up and on the 12th Tee ... absolutely stunning on a clear day. All the Par 3’s, although quite short, all had a nice character and charm to them. All the greens were in good condition and interesting. There are numerous ponds on the course, not all in play, but obviously giving the impression that lots of hard work and thought has gone into the design and feel for the course. The Old Course & Valley Course signs were a bit confusing as there is only one course !! All in all a great course to visit and fairly flat after one has completed Holes 7, 8, 9 (& 12 downhill …. my wife hit a 325 yard plus drive !!! ).

We visited Mellor & Townscliffe on 19th May 2006. The only thing that could possibly be improved is the set of directions for getting there.
After that obstacle was over then it was plain sailing all the way. A superb club in a beautiful setting with some great golf holes and breathtaking views after you have negotiated the climb through holes 7, 8 & 9.
We were afforded a very friendly welcome by the staff and members alike and enjoyed the excellent catering. Facilities both on and off the course are spot on.
This is a must for a Society visit and the chances are that you may have the place virtually all to yourself......once you find it!

Mellor is aa excellent test of golf for players of all levels. A well maintained course with probably the best greens in the area Mellor boasts an intersting mix of moorland and parkland golf with the most breathtaking views imaginable over the surrounding countryside. On a clear day you may even see the 'Great Orme'at Llandudno.
The opening 6 holes are mixed woodland where shotmaking skill are put to the test. The next six take on a truly moorland feel with the 'signature' 12th hole feeding the golfer down to the remaining 6 holes which are of parkland character and which offer any player a good test with two par fives and the test 18th. Great stuff
