Muswell Hill Golf Club Player Reports
Simon Vazquez (England) 24/05/08
I played a round of golf on Thursday afternoon with another gentleman who had also joined. The whole process was very easy, and I was made to feel welcome.
I was pleased with the condition and level of difficulty of the course, and more pleased that I played under my handicap! I am aiming to play a couple of times a week, as I can sometimes leave work early and get to the course around 4 or 4.30.

I have played in courses all over London and south east and all though still count myself as useless at 22 handicap, I persevere.
Muswell Hill golf course is one of the best, if not the best I have played in London, the staff are very friendly and professional and the members are also very friendly.
I have found that all though still maintaining a very high standard, the club has not got the stuffiness associated with private golf clubs.
I am immensely enjoying my game time and will be seriously thinking of extending to full membership when May is over.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the May membership scheme. I've managed to play a few times and have also attended a couple of the clinics run by David Wilton. These I found particularly valuable. It is my intention to sign up for full membership after May.

I always play here when I am in London as it is a great golf course and close to town. It is a good test and the members are friendly. While the greens may be tricky, they are always true, a bit like Augusta!
The course may not have views like we do in Scotland, but it feels nice and secluded and you wouldn’t know you were in London. The course has recently undergone some serious improvements, clearing out some undergrowth and building around half a dozen new tees. The layout has a good mix of par 3s and 5s, rewards good golf and is a fair test. It was beautifully presented last week and I am looking forward to visiting again over the summer.

Some narrow and challenging holes, but mostly quite an easy and short course. Par 5s all reachable in 2 by even average hitters. Nice 3rd hole, but I found some other holes quite dull. Unfortunately the soil is clay-based so drainage is an issue almost everywhere. We also experienced slow play, i.e. a 4-ball in front of us who would not let us through even though they were a couple of holes behind the group in front of them.
It's not really a bad course, but it's not one I'd return to.

A rather scuffy course with some very poor tees, and poor bunkers. The greens were good but the approaches & surrounds very average.
The club seems to have a real problem with slow play at weekends.
