As a course this isn't great, but as a municipal I suppose it's reasonable value for money. Hilly front nine and flat back nine, greens looked OK visually but were quite slow.
Not easy to score well here - partly because it is quite long for a Municipal, but also because of the slow greens and lack of divot-repairing.

A nice testing course. Shame about the conduct of some players. Played it as a visitor on Wed.27/09 Group of three players behind us were playing of the tee all together instead of one at a time. Shouted at us to get a move on. Played their approach shots to the green whilst we were still on the green. One golf ball landed in the dunker just short of the 17th green. One course that will not be on my favourites list. Golf shop assistant showed little interest when I complained/

this course is a must play for any fan of council/muni courses. its got some of the best elevated tee shots you can get in the midlands.
you need to be fit to walk this course a lot of up and down but its worth it.
some say the back nine is boring, i think it gives you a chance to make your score back.
each time i have played, the course has been in good shape, fast greens short fairways. what its like in the wet i dont know as it always been fine when ive played here.
the par 3s are all longish ones apart from the 7th , about 100 yards down hill, after which you have to play up a steep par 4 hole locally known as cardiac hill i belive!!
nice club house and reasonable in price.
club not far from the leisure centre about a
(9 iron),
so leave your kids and wife there unless they play and enjoy the challenge.

Have played this course over the past 2 days. For £11 on a friday and £14 on a saturday its fantastic value for money. Its a real challenge and important to hit the ball straight. Can get kind of busy but thats probably due to it being such good value for money.

Having just discovered this web site, i felt it proper to see any reviews on newbold Comyn.
having been a member their for several years, managing to attain a respectable 11 handicap.
I agree with the comments made in part.
but feel the feedback on the back nine inapropriate.
It may be a complete contrast to the front nine, but it is still as challenging.
Due to the recent addition of a number of drainage ditches @ the 11th/13th par 5`s.(531 yds/561 yds)
making them play much longer than previous.also due to fact that a large number of trees! reside either side of the fairways, makes it a must for straight hitting.as for the rest some may be straight but you`ve still got to get it in the hole.
and i agree the 17th/18th make for 2 challenging finishing holes.

Being a high handicap golfer new to the game I found the course excellent value for money, in superb condition and a real test (especially the front 9 where acuracy from the tee was a must). In hind sight were I to play the course again I would elect to play the slightly easier back nine first in order to get "my eye in".
