North Warwickshire Golf Club Ltd Player Reports
George Thomas (England) 21/06/07
Only 9 holes but a good test of your game nevertheless. North Warwickshire is one of the oldest clubs in the area, it maintains a lot of traditions of the game, yet is friendly and has a few odd quirks.
For a start, there is an honest bar. The club decided that there wasn't the funds to employ a full time steward, so the members simply pull their own pints and put their money in the box. There must be some who try to get away with it, but in a club like this, the members probably know who they are!
The course itself has many tricky undulations, doglegs, blind shots and tricky greens. I was happy to play 18 holes (nine twice) but I'm not sure I could adjust to being a member and going round the same loop twice every Saturday. Playing here as a visitor was however a welcome diversion, a pleasant day was spent on a tricky course and an evening in the bar with the members was very much enjoyed. The Par 3 5th and 7th were my favourite holes, neither of them being easy.
