A course of two halves. Holes 1-7 and 17/18 played in trees, with pretty tight fairways. Holes 8-16 are played in side the racecourse and because of so few trees has a linksy feel to it. Money wise this is the best value in the Leicestershire area, with some interesting holes, though some could do with a few more features such as fairway bunkers and ponds.

My favourite hole is the 3rd hole, a severe dog leg to the left, at 320 yards it is a birdie chance; go too far right, a brook or stray trees block your approach, go too far to the left in the trees, if you get par you are very lucky. The 4th, 7th, and 12th holes are all considerably over 400 yards, with the 7th and 12th having ditches in front of them making it impossible to run your ball up if you lack power off the tee. I'll be playing this course the most this year due to the value for money it is, even at a weekend.

Elliott Shaw (England) 12/02/08

I have played here 17 times and it is just fantastic! The layout could be better as the 1st is pretty much the same as the 6th and the 5th is pretty much the same as the 18th. Their are some very challeneging holes such as the 7th, a 437 yard par 4. The 12th looks very straightforward but it isn't. It is dead straight and has a brook about 70yards(?) away from the green. But it is 442yards. I was disappointed to find that the beauty of the 13th hole, a 263yard par 4 with a bunch of trees 70yards(?) away from the tee, had been torn down. It now looks like a war zone. It used to be the best looking hole on the course now it is the worst. Other than that though this is the best municiple course in Leicstershire by far. The greens have always been playable even in the winter. The putting green is fantastic because of the size of it and the pro shop is good too. I would definitley recommend this course for people who are looking to improve their short game aswell because each day the greens are different. You can be putting like Tiger one day and then putting like me the next (not so good!!) But all in all a very good course to play.

John Greenwell (England) 12/08/06

a course of two halves if you like, half out side the race course and half in side. the holes out side the course are fairly wide with forgiving fairways although there are some big trees and hazards to deal with and some tough long par fours the toughest being 7th, a long par four dog leg left a very long tee shot of at least 270 yards is needed to reach this green in two with a 3 or 4 iron for your 2nd shot. even if you get the tee shot away its a very nast green with a streem in frount bunkers at the sides and a fast surface to boot!! hard but a par feels like an eagle here. inside the race course the feeling changes from a parkland track to more of an inland links type feel. narrow fairways open to the wind with bushes, bunkers streems hegerows and out of bounds very much in play, it needs a thinker not a bomber boy to score well round this section. once again it has some very tough par 4s and the only 2 par 3 holes on the course. watch out for the long par 12th almost as tough as the 7th! of course there is a fairly well stocked shop, a good putting green, some driving nets and a freindly club house that serves well priced food and drinks. it can get busy here so when playing inside the course keep an ear and eye out for stay shots as some holes are very close together. overall a very enjoyable track for very little dosh.

John Holland (England) 02/12/03

Inexpensive and a good test of golf, some narrow fairways and long par 4's. Holes 7, 8 and 9 need good course management to score well.

Friendly and informative staff. Good food and fast service, Easy to get tee times but best times to play are Fri, Sat, and Sunday.

The Club has an Open Festival Week in June 2004, which is worthwhile entering.

Additional maintenance during 2003 on Greens and Bunkers have made improvements for 2004 season.

A nice long cheap course....As it is a pay and play course it takes quiet a battering from regular use. The greens are often in bad condition.

First 7 holes are long and wide, tricky rough and the odd stream to deal with.

Next 9 holes are links style and are in the middle of the race course.....Some tricky par 3's and long par 4's and 5's.

Final 2 holes back on outside of racecourse.

A good challenge with value for money. Course is dived up into two sections first 7 holes parkland with wide fairways broken by obsticals at driving didtance to slow you down follwed by the next 9 inside the rece course giving a links type challenge. The remaining 2 holes then return to a parkland setting

A fairly good municipal course.

Bit to straight but the rough makes it challenging.
