Played the course for the first time Sat 25th August. Was booked before I read the comments on here and to be honest was a bit concerned at what had been written! I've no idea what the course was like when it was council run but at the weekend it was in very good condition and I would consider, worth the £23 green fee. A little short for some I guess but quite testing non-the-less as it's quite tight.
Worth giving it a go. ;o)

At £22,50 over weekends, this has now become expensive for what you get. This used to be a course in good condition with good greens. Played there on 15.04.07 and the greens were bad, REALLY bad!

This used to be one of the best courses in the area when owned by the local council. It has now been sold off privately, and the bar is now a pub open to all and sundry.
The problem is that the new owners have obviously cut back the amount of upkeep. We played last week and the bunkers where a disgrace, the greens also a disgrace, the tees where bare, sandy, and not even remotely flat.
It's an incredible shame as this was a nice course to play. we played bank holiday monday and wondered why the course was half empty, when in the past it was full and busy almost every day. In short, don't bother, at £23 at the weekend this is awful value, especially as there are much better courses in the area, kept in much better condition.
Please could the council buy it back!

Good points:-
Price, during the week £17 but if you are a 4 ball £10 each (bonus). Staff at the pro shop very friendly and polite
Fairways nice and short & not to much rough. Clubhouse sells good quality and reasonablly priced food.
A good variety of holes.
Bad Points:-
Not to challenging, bunkers could be a little better and greens not the best in the world.
Overall I would say that for the money you wont get much better than this during the week.

Lovely mature course with some tight fairways and good layout. Greens needed a trim when we visited and was very busy, but definately a course ill be going back to.

Excellent course. Its now privately owned but still pay and play. The buggies are all new and have GPS to tell you exactly how far the green is :) I play this course a lot and its always well kept. Pretty much every hole has a twist, 8th is excellent (lay up!!!!), 12th is HARD, 10th isn't easy either! 9th is a great par 3 as well, cant recommend it enough.
As far as the slow play at weekends its now not the case since it became private, no idea why, but a few weeks ago we went round in 3.5 hours on a Saturday afternoon, which is fine by me!
