Played the Pay & Play course April 05 and found it in excellent condition, and the greens are absolutely immaculate.
If you live anywhere near the area and want to putt on greens as good as you'll find anyway (and I mean anywhere) make sure you go along.
The design of the course really has made the best use of the space available, with 3 par 3's and 1 par in the 10 hole lay out.
A nice mix of holes, the second, a challenging 190 yard par 3 guarded by water at the front, and the 5th only a 201 yard par 4, but played round a ninety degree angle - An easy birdie opportunity with only a short iron needed off the tee (I thinned a lob wedge over the green and took 7!)
For the value hunters out there, this was only £8 for ten holes on a Saturday - Great value for money.

I played the 9-hole pay-and-play on the 1st April 2005. The course is nicely laid out with excellent, well presented greens and lovely bunkers. A good range of holes, including a 540+yd par 5 and a 200yd par 3 with the green gaurded by water (ouch). My one reservation was the course was suffering from drainage. A couple of places were extremely wet with run off water, and as there had been no rain for a few days, suggest to me the drainage should be looked at.
Overall though, at £7.00 for 9-holes, and the price of local courses as high as they are, a bit of a bargain. Soon to be upgraded to 12-holes. I would play again if in the area as the scenery was lovely (saw a fallow deer bounding around at the bottom end of the course).

If you have £25 to spend want a nice round of golf on a course that is a little different from the standard Hants /Surrey type give Petersfield a try. The course is set amongst the Hants hills is off the winter temp tees about 6300 yds long and is not as easy and open as it might first apppear. The first requirement is a fair tee shot because you do not want to approach the greens with to bigger club because they are not over large and even in the winter remain fast ,firm and difficult to putt on . A long iron shot will oftan slip through the back and a poor tee shot leave you on a hanging or difficult lie .
The downsides well its not cheap and on the day we played the society in front where rather poor and thus our round took four and a half hours . In conclusion well worth a try .

On behalf of the De La Rue Golf Society, I would\r\nlike to thank the staff and caterers for making\r\nour day an enjoyable one.\r\nThe course was highly rated by our members and\r\nall wish to play the course again. Two long par5s\r\nto start set up the challenge for a interesting\r\ndays golf. I'm sure when the course is in its\r\nprime it will be one of the best in Hampshire
Thanks again G.Stacey
