Brilliant parkland course only 12 miles from London and about 25 minutes by train from St Pancras.
Even though the first is short it is still tricky, then it gets harder and harder with placement, length and accuracy all needed, streams and bunkers are well placed to catch any errant shots. We played in May 2006,the rough was not high but tricky, the greens were magnificent and with a howling wind causing chaos.
Great facilities, very pleasnat pro shop who could have not been more helpfull, bar staff after the round very welcoming and affable.
A must play

Lovely course would love to play it again and again. Very hill and quite long. I have played harder courses but it was very challenging as it has ditch that runs across the course. The par 3s are tricky. The 6th which is a par 3 is extremely hard you only have one option which is to make sure you get your ball on the sloping, elevated green which is guarded by bushes, trees and some very hard bunkers. Excellent course. Probably the best parkland course i have played.

Beautifully located traditional golf club and course. Not cheap at £42.00 but probably reasonable value for within the M25.
Played as a 2 ball on a Friday morning, with about a 30 minute wait for a 'ball in the chute' start but as 2 balls only on the course we made rapid progress round the 18 (not least as the 'gentlemen' behind used us as target practice on most par 4s and 5s). Clearly a member who needed a lesson in etiquette, don't you just love them?
First hole is a bit of a mickey mouse par 4 - 230 yards? But then the course gets going with lovely scenic parkland, some fantastic tees and everything in great condition. Not hugely challenging but extremely pleasant.

Played the course for the first time as one of a small society (around 20 people). The course was in immaculate condition with tees, fairways and greens all very well presented.
There are a good number of holes where the tee-shot is very inviting with the majority of holes being very attractive.
I'm an (average) 18 handicapper and this was the first time I have played a round with the same ball. This bore out the fact that the course, whilst challenging, is reasonably fair.
Certainly a course I would love to play again.

We Played Porters Park in Feb, when a lot of other courses were shut. The course was in very good condition for the time of year and the amount of rain there had been. The layout of the course is that of a classic old English parkland course. Accuracy of the tee and not length is important. Excellent par three's - again tricky but not long. I will defniatly going back to enjoy more of Porters Park in the summer .
Found the clubhouse atmosphere very freindly and welcoming .
Highly Recommend this course .

If you enjoy traditional Parkland courses this is a must, always in great condition from tee to green. Premium on accurate iron play most greens are elevated so if you miss the green you will be playing a tough little up and down. All the holes are good but it has some great par three's.
The only down side is that the clubhouse can be quite stuffy and old fashioned in its approach to non members.
