i played on a sunday 10/08/08. i found the course in good condition although some of the greens had unrepaired pitchmarks, this due to laziness or sheer ignorance of some of the hackers. the fairways are wide and just inviting you to "open your shoulders up". the greens were also in good condition, although the bumkers could do with a few more rakes. overall i found this course great value for money with the 19th hole facilities excellent with some extremely friendly bar-staff. the only problem was the pro-shop looked like it had been ram-raided with absolutley nothing in there...i couldnt even treat myself to some new titliest!

Played on Dec 9th on a glorious, clear (but dry) day.

I'm loathe to criticise this course as it is unpretentious and inexpensive but (did you know this was coming ?) it was very wet and boggy, even on some of the fairways. On the (admittedly rare) occasions I was in the middle of the fairway, I was having to 'dig' out my 2nd shots, resulting in plenty of spray. Has it really been raining that much recently ? Anything off line, it was an effort to find the ball, and very tricky to recover.

Some of the greens were similarly soft & spongey, leaving some horrendous (unrepaired) pitchmarks. Why don't people tidy up after themselves ?! Lazy sods !

Teeing-off was from the mats, but at least there was only one winter green. Hurrah.

Facilities at Ruislip are good - driving range, good clubhouse & pro shop.

At £18 for weekend winter rates, I'd go back again (after a dry/cold spell !)

Played this course on a hot sunday afternoon. All players should bear in mind this is a public course so several players are rubbish and you wont go quickly around. However our two ball took 3hr 40mins which is okay.

It hadn't really rained for weeks so it was easy to see what parts are cared for. The fairways were rock hard and cracked in several places, but in reasonable condition. Fair enough for public course. The greens were actually very good. They had been watered, which you could tell due to some slightly damn areas in shade. This made us feel drainage is poor and in winter i am sure the greens wont be good. The bunkers hadn't been watered and the sand was poor. Incredibly fine and very hard to work out how to play a shot.

Yes the course is flat (not a problem) and generally wide, but the trees line the course and there is often harsh brush, so you have to stay straight or be in big trouble. Even then there are numerous ditches to avoid on fairways. The greens are well designed (many bunkers straight in front of greens).

Overall : Pretty reasonable for Public course, although at £21 maybe a bit expensive. But wouldn't want to play this in November rains. Great facilities (good food, big bar, pool tables, huge driving range), although small pro shop. Made this a good sunday day out.

Played this course yesterday and although I didn't think it had rained much recently, it was very wet, boggy in some places - some of the greens were very spongey.

It's all off mats this time of year, which is always a pain, but for £10 you can't really complain.

I've played this course in the summer and it's cheap & cheerful.

I played here March 2003. The clubhouse/restaurant/bar was very nice.

I've played on very nice courses in poor conditions and very poor courses in fine conditions. This course was OK on a beautiful day.

I play predominantly on public courses in America and was not used to seeing drainage trenches cutting across the fairways. For me this was an unusual hazard with apparently unique rules of play-winter or summer. On average, the greens were good, fairways were fine. No really memorable geographic features. Although at one point my ball dissapeared completely while rolling up the centre of one of the fairways. It had apparently rolled into a functioning open cup at least 50 yards from the green! Just previous to this shot I had wrappred my 3 wood around the trunk of a tree. Not my fondest hole on the course.

When we wound up on the final few holes I had the distinct impression that I had kind of left the golf course. This wasn't due to hitting the ball out of bounds-I actually hit the pin with a 200 yard drive-but rather with the arrival of tall wire mesh fences and a gravelly playing surface. I thought we had wandered into a car park.

However, the meal and the atmosphere in the clubhouse made up for all shortcomings.

Overall very good value for money, and not overcrowded that weekend.

This course was one of the worst i have played on. The fairways were rock hard and there was no sand in the bunkers. However, the greens were in good condition.
