Me and three friends visit various courses to play
throughout the summer, and, having first visited Saddleworth in 2005, we have made sure we go at least once every summer since. The combination of interesting and testing golf holes along with spectacular views makes this a must for all golfers who don't object to a few climbs.Nice club
house aswell.

A gem of a course which we really enjoyed. Fairways and greens are wonderful and although short in yards it is tight and requires great care. The views on a summer day are worth the green fees and the friendly clubhouse with good food make for a great day out. Only criticism is that we played in a Seniors Open which could have been better organised for the benefit of visitors.
Thank you we would come again.

Our Golf Society visited Saddleworth Golf Club on 5th August 2005.
Anybody who wants a top quality days golf in superb surroundings needs to come to Saddleworth.
The hardest part of the day was finding the course but once you have overcome that barrier you are met with a friendly welcome from everyone at the club. Perhaps the location of the club keeps large numbers of people away as throughout our day we only saw a handful of others playing the course.
We had anticipated a bleak moorland setting but this was not the case. The course is on high ground but is crafted beautifully into the terrain and some of the views over the surrounding countryside took your breath away (if you had any left from some of the climbs).
The course itself was in great condition and although not enormous in length will provide a test of your whole game. In particular, a couple of the exposed greens were like putting on glass with the wind behind you.
The Clubhouse facilities are spot on and all of this for a bargain green fee of £24 for the day (plus the best breakfast you will find anywhere).
You really should make the effort to get to Saddleworth as it is an ideal venue for a Society Day or a casual visit. Either way it provides a total escape from the world.
We will be returning for more as soon as we can.

Do not be deceived by the apparent lack of length. This is not an easy course - flat lies are rare, and any tendency to slice will be severely punished. The first seven holes are all uphill and the view from the eighth tee is exceeded only by the view from the fourteenth, a par five which, because of its elevated tee is eminently birdiable. The clubhouse is welcoming and friendly, and the pro-shop, though small, has a good range of stuff. Dedfinitlely a worthwhile day out.

BAE SYSTEMS Golf Society visited Saddleworth Golf Club on 23/7/00.
As Vice Captain I would like to express my thanks to all the staff at Saddleworth Golf Club for making our visit such a memorable day.
The weather was fantastic and the course was in immaculate condition. Each hole is different and believe me, never flat!
The greens could be compared to Augusta and were a were receptive but a great putting test for everybody.
A great course and one that I hope I'll be visiting again next year.
