Seaford Golf Club Player Reports
Jon Ponsford (England) 31/10/05
This was our second visit to Seaford for our mixed group of 13, staying in the Dormy House, the main changes since our last visit about six years ago are within the clubhouse. The accommodation and food will now give any 3* hotel a run for its money, every possible facility is available from drying room to secure club store and snooker table and TV and card room.
As to the course, our only complaint was the length of the rough, which punished rather too severely any shot just a yard off the fairway, a band of semi would have been appreciated. With only one par 5, don’t be fooled that this is an easy driving course, old bomb craters and well placed bunkers force careful placing of every tee shot. Old-fashioned gorse protects adjoining fairways, and the cry of “fore” was rarely herd. There is no sign of temporary greens or tees, and with its chalk soil base this course should play well though out the whole year.
One point to bear in mind, this is a very old established club, dress codes-behaviour and courtesy are the expected norm, appreciate their traditions and members will except you.

A gem in the crown of Sussex Golf, and previous host to the Sussex Open.
It's a challenging and well maintained course with fantastic views along the Southern coast, and I received a warm welcome on my green fee.
The par 3 7th played over a ravine and long par 5 16th, which even the very longest hitters will not reach in 2, stand out as a good test.
Above all, it feels mature on and off of the course and well worth the green fee - if you're looking for a splash of tradition then this is the venue for you.
