I have been a member of seaton 4 2 years now when i first played the course it was very trickey, luckily i have seemed to get used to the course and it is very easy as i no where to hit the ball and where to land the ball on the greens, as i sed for a first time vistor it WILL BE HARD. the arrow fairways and the fast greens hard to cope with, but seaton is a true test for all differnt golfers. One good side, when ever i go and play at junior opens i always seem to do well!

I played at Seaton in the 2nd Division County Championship on a very windy day. First impressions are favourable. Good clubhouse faclities fairly priced. The practice facilities are adequate. The course from the white tees on this day was Brutal. The fairways were good if you could stay on them, the bunkers were consistent and the greens were fast and hard to read. The distance markers did not inspire confidence, some of those 150yd markers were more like 175yds+, I don't think it was just the effects of the wind.
The real downside is the eyesore that is the Teesside chemical industry. The good news is that the coastal views do compensate.
Having played some great links courses e.g. Royal Portrush, Portstewart, Enniscronne, Donegal Murvagh, RossaPenna and many others in Northern Ireland and Donegal (Eire) Seaton is no more than an average links course. However, in the North East it is a gem. Would I go back? Only after checking the weather forecast

I have been a member at Seaton for 1 year "wot" a great course non better in the area. Its a challenge every time you play the conditions change as you play its a classic links not for the faint hearted. Not a long course however you have to be accurate off the tee if you wayward bring a couple of dozen balls you will need them all.

i played here last year in the Seaton Salver and i have played there as much as possible ever since the course is in good conditon but the greens are going under some repair but the rest of the course is in excelent condition.it is a 5* course.

i played this course in the junior open last year with not many lads there it was much of a challenge but i enjoyed this course because i found if i made a mistake i could make up for it on the next hole.not a course for big hitters but you have to be accurate off the tee i will b bak this year to compete in the open.

Having recently played the old course layout at Seaton Carew I wanted to give my strongest recommendation. This is definitely a course for the purest. Played on what I would imagine was one of the many windy days in this area, the trip back to the clubhouse from the nineth was incredibly difficult but nonethelesss enjoyable. Forget the view of the Petro chemical works this is a superb old links. This being my first time a Seaton Carew it was, unlike many links courses very fair, no real blind shots, just the requirement to think your way round and play solid shots. My favorite hole was the 12th on the old course "Mashie", you just have to hit the green there is no bail out. You won't find a better way to spend £26.

If you like to play golf in its original form on a windswept links course, then you will love Seaton. If you like lush manicured fairways, soft receptive greens and picture postcard views, go somewhere else. Seaton is a great course, certainly the best I have played in the North East (I have only seen Slaley, not played it yet), and is challenging to say the least. The Brabazon layout (the best) is long, the undulating fairways are reasonably wide but the punishment for missing them is severe, and the large greens are usually hard and lightning quick. There are plenty of bunkers, gorse and whins to further hamper progress. All the classic ingredients. The only downside is the view across the Tees estuary to the industrial horrors of Teeside (none of which were there when the course was opened in 1874).
Take plenty of balls, an extra jumper and try to stay calm when your ball refuses to come out of the wiry rough, and you will have a great day out.
