After a long and fraught planning battle to get the course built in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, the club blossomed and went from strength to strength until unfortunately a fall-out between the owners left it almost bereft of members.

However it is now up and running again and remains an excellent nine hole course.

The first, a tight dog-leg with mature trees complicating matter even further, is a great test, as is the second, a par three aiming for a tight green over a fast-flowing river.

The third is a long par four with bunkers and water meaning accuracy cannot be ignored in the pursuit of length. The fourth is one of the duller holes, a somewhat mundane par four, before another tight dog leg, bunkers and water make the par four fifth another good challenge. The sixth is a tricky par three to a flat green atop a big hill and many players will struggle to drive onto there with a club high enough to keep the ball on the putting surface.

The seventh is a 500 yard plus monstrous uphill slog which is tough but through distance and altitude alone rather than any finesse in the course construction. Having climbed the mountain the ninth sees you drop down again to a green protected by a slope to the eright and mature trees to the left. it is a real joy to be able to hit the shot and watch it approach the flag from such an elevated position.

Overall, this is a marvellous nine hole course which makes best use of the stunning natural landscape and is well worth a visit.
