I played this excellant course as a guest of a member in early May of this year.We played from the white tees after seeking permission which toughened the course up even further. I thought the course was in excellant condition and rewarded true straight driving. The heather is not as thick as it has been previously but still comes into play if you don't catch it cleanly off the tee. The stretch from the 9th to the 14th are as difficult as you will find anywhere when it comes to distance and accuracy. The staff and catering were excellant as was the well earned beer afterwards. We will definately be visiting in the near future to test our abilities all over again. One point of note is the green fees which are reasonable for such a super course. However, if you play with a member the value for money is exceptional.

I have played alot of golf courses this year and this course is right at the top. The design makes you think for every shot, it's not get your driver out and blast it!
The condition is of the highest standard, with the greens true and super-fast(nealy as fast as Longniddry)!
The club house was friendly with good beer and food. But ,there is no booking system so becareful ring up many times before you go.

One of the best courses I have played recently (and I get to play quite a few). Greens are superb - very true and very, very FAST! Watch out for the heather, you can guarantee that you can scrub the hole if you're in it - bunkers are tricky too! 11th thru 14th are a real test - hit long and straight and your OK, if you don't then is Hasta la Vista - Baby!
Well worth a visit but buy a course planner and an extra packet of balls.

A testing heathland course from start to finish.
The first will lure you into a false sense of security as it looks reasonably straightforward but things soon change as the course becomes tighter and calls for course management as a number of tee shots are blind over heather to tree lined fairways. Probably one of the best stretches of course you will encounter comes up on 11,12,13,and 14 requiring long straight drives or a shaped draw to give you a chance of getting to the green in 2 with a reasonably short iron. Anything short from the tee will require long irons into green where it is incredibly difficult to hold the ball, and anything off line will ensure that you are lucky to get out with a double bogey.
A good test of golf for any handicap whihc will reward you if you are on your game, but will punish you severely if you are off it. Who said that golf was meant to be an easy game!
