Played this the other day and have mixed feelings about it. Took advanatge of the £10 twilight green fee and I have to say this was good value, although I would begrudge paying the £16 during normal hours. The course itself is squashed together which in itself is not a problem, the biggest problem being the actual state of the course, the greens were poor, fairways and rough very similar, I just felt I was playing a course which happened to be there and not a course which was well looked after. Didnt like the 3 par 3's in a row, almost a case of having to put them there as no room, 13th was a good hole, great green, 5 and 6 were definatly challenging, but apart from these 3 nothing else interested me.
I would not play the course again if I had had over options but if the course was properly looked after then I would return to see if it has improved.
What doesnt help is that I am 24 handicapper so when you play bad as well it all adds up to a pretty depressing afternoon

I have played this course many times over the years , i played it very recently and was sad to see the greens in a poor condition, also the course management have left the rough very long, 6-8 inches which makes for a lot of golfers looking for a lot of lost balls, at its best it is a delightfull 18 hole par 69 course, with a friendly little clubhouse, and represents great value for money especially for those on a limited budget and high handicap.I just wish they would cut the rough a bit shorter and do something for the greens.

Shrivenham offers great value for money golf. The greens are usually in very good condition even if not particularly demanding. The course is very tight with a few of the holes crossing or very adjacent to other fairways. Water only really comes into play on two holes, the fifth a long par 5 (where is that flag) which is played up and over a hill to a small green and the the sixth on the way back. The seventh hole is played down an avenue of trees if you slice or hook stick to the irons! The other hole of note is the long thirteenth played almost down a narrow valley befor a sharp dogleg to the right, if you slce its too far to then to make use of it!
Shrivenham, is a good mature course with etablished trees so don't expect free relief from poor shots. Overall, except when busy a very enjoyable course to play
