I usually play here once or twice a year and have done so for the last 17 years and I can safely say that this is probably the most consistently excellent courses in the area. It has a great mixture of holes which are all in superb condition. Regardless of the weather conditions the course always plays well and is also a good cardio-vascular workout as it is rather long.
I played it at 09:00 on a sunday two weeks ago and I more or less had the course to myself due to the fact that they keep the membership very low. The only downside to this is that the atmosphere in the clubhouse is pretty much non-existent which is a shame otherwise I would join there in a flash.
I paid £12 to play with a member which is a superb price.
It is a good challenge (I'd give it 8.5 in that category if I could). If you can play off a low single figure handicap there then you can do it anywhere, but even if you play it and hack around in 150 you will still enjoy it I'm sure.

I have only played this course twice and both times in a howling wind. It's one of the nicest courses in the area and some of the most demanding holes you'll play anywhere.

Had to laugh at DT's comment about this course having more ups and downs than Mr. Blair. The greens were perhaps the finest I played in the UK. Don't be fooled by the relatively short distances on the card. This course plays much longer, with many blind tee shots and uphill approaches. Holes No. 1, 5, 8 and 11 have exaggerated doglegs - maybe 90 degrees. No 18 is a driveable par 4 for big hitters.

If a club pro ever tells you that his course is "interestly undulating" take note and pack your mountain boots. This course has more ups and downs than Tony Blair. That said, it was a really enjoyable hike with well thought out holes and good greens. Well worth a visit, just make sure you've got some oxygen.

I have played this course on numerous occasions and have yet to play it when the greens have not been in excellent condition. If you hit the ball long and straight you will love this course, it can make you feel like Tiger Woods, for instance the Par 5 12th, if you hit a good drive can be reached in 2 with a mid iron. I can also say the ladies in the clubhouse make you feel most welcome.P.S Order the Chicken dinner.
