A challenging course for new players, I believe it could become easier with course knowledge to improve your handicap. Very unusual and challenging Par 3's. Well kept, bunkers could do with freshening up. Also could do with a printed course guide for 1st timers in particluar. Keep up the good work.

I played Steveage for the first time on Saturday and was impressed. The course was in good condition for October - tees, fairways and greens all played well, the bunkers were a bit lacking in sand in places however. The course itself is pretty good - a nice combination of holes, most fairly straight forward but there are a couple to test you as well. The number of short par 5 makes this a fairly generous par 72 and I would say it is nice test for most mid to high handicappers. It took 4 and a half hours for our 3 ball to get around and we were held up by a 4 ball in front through out - unfortunately a normal municipal round on a Saturday! Facilities are very good - range, friendly pro shop, lively club house afterwards. The lack of 150 yard markers noted below has also been resolved.

I'd certainly come back and play again.

I play at Stevenage Golf Centre very regulary, and find that it is a nice course with good variety of holes and challenges, from the long Par 3's (8th and 14th) to the easy par 5 16th. It has everything and is ideal for anyone who enjoys golf what ever your ability. When I played recently the greens were a bit worn but this is understandable due to the hot weather and any ground under repair was clearly marked. The staff are helpful and friendly. One comment would be to place distance markers on the fairway to help with club selection, but it's a minor thing and there are white discs indicating 150 yards. Overall It's a great course and fun to play.

Played this course (for the first time) as a four ball checking out the prospect of visiting with our society next year. We had booked a tee time but arrived early, and was offered an earlier time by the helpful pro shop staff. Considering our visit coincided with the long dry spell in July this year we were pleasantly surprised at the overall condition of fairways, yes there were dry bare patches, but they were clearly marked as G.U.R. The greens were in very good condition and a number were very tricky to read. There is a lack of marker posts at 150 yards, just discs in the middle of the fairways; we felt this was issue that needed addressing to help club selection on a strange course. Also the sand in the bunkers leaves a little to be desired, when we mentioned this in the shop after our round in was greeted with the response that we weren’t the first to comment on these items. However, the course layout and the variety of holes offers a fair challenge to any golfer, and we shall certainly be making a booking, the package on offer looks excellent value and if the snack lunch we had is an example of their catering prowess our members should be well satisfied.

This course could teach many higher priced private clubs a lot: fair prices, interesting layout, good simple course planner, and attentive friendly staff.

I am a junior golf player, and think that Stevenage is a nice course. As pretty much everyone else has said it boasts some hard holes, my favourite has to be the 9th, I have seen so many golf balls fly into that water! The only trouble is that it it not privately owned, and due to this, (and here's when I risk sounding very snobby) you get so many chavs down there and people playing in tracksuits that it brings the whole atmosphere down from 100 to about 50, but for a beginner (like myslef), or someone looking for a course which won't break the bank, Stevenage is ideal. The driving range has recently been done up and is a lot better than it used to be, the clubhouse is alos improving, but the selection of equipment for sale is poor. I hope this helps!

This course was where I played my first round of Golf. It offers some fantastic challenges and I would recommend it to anyone, any age. Just do it!
