Course was OK fairly challenging, fairways were quite good as were the greens. Back nine was more interesting than the front nine but no par 5's. However very stuffy and very unwelcoming members. Managed the odd grunt from the pro shop chap, no access to changing facilities which meant changing in a corridor and refused to allow me to play in black socks with shorts on. Don't think I will bother returning as it wasn't that special.

Played here midweek January 06 ( £15 using the Open Fairways card ).

Nothing to get too excited about here . A course that seems to suffer in the winter as there were tee mats on every hole & 4 temporary greens despite the fact there hasn't been much rain recently. Also the greens were a bit bumpy & not the best i've seen this winter.

A short course ( no par 5s ) where your driver won't be required much . The 9 holes over the road on the far part of the course are pleasant & well laid out but i didn't find the common land type holes around the clubhouse very inspiring .

Recommended in the usually reliable AA guide but i think they got this one wrong.

Played the course with my cousin Andrew on Monday 28th April 03. We had not booked but this was not a problem for the helpful gentlemen in the pro-shop.

I am more used to playing newer parkland courses, and knew from reading other players comments that this would be a new challenge for me - especially with my fade of the tee.

What it lacks in distance it more than makes up in the tightness of the fairways and green placements.

Most of the holes are well bunkered, both on the fairway and green which makes shot selection interesting - no just grabbing the driver and launching it.

All of the greens we in top condition. They held the ball well and puts rolled true. Although it had been raining for a couple of days, all of the fairways were well maintained.

The first hole, fairly open short dog-leg par 4 gave me my first birdie opportunity which I duly converted.

The 3rd hole, a short-ish par 3 was superb - elevated tee and well bunkered slopping green.

The approach shot the slightly elevated green on the 6th needs to be accurate or you’re in one of the many bunkers.

The 11th, though not long is very tight and the tee off from the 13th is fairly daunting, as is the blind approach to the green.

We both really enjoyed the round and at £18 for midweek we thought it was quite good value. I've let all guys at work know about the course as I think it provides a really good challenge for all players and handicaps.

Course planner is now available and is very helpful for the original 9 (1,2,12-18) which have the unusual feature on holes 12 and 17 of high hedges across the fairway. Look to play medium irons from a number of tees for short par 4's - and still have 7 or 8 irons to green - and you should stay out of trouble.

This course is rather short and generally in good condition. However the trees seems to be taking over the course and on many holes shots which are only slightly wayward are punished severely. All in all a course which is interesting and VERY challenging but not one to play on regularly due to the incredible tightness of most of the holes. Not a course for the average player, although those older golfers who hit straight but not very far will enjoy the lack of distance of most holes apart from the par 4 4th

A short, well laid out course with some very nice par 3 holes. This is a course where the long iron or 3 wood takes precedence over the driver. A good straight shot with a 3 iron will leave you with no more than a 6 or 7 iron into most of the greens. Placement however is vital to score well. The greens were superb, very receptive and true to put on.
