Three Rivers Golf & Country Club Player Reports

I returned to Three Rivers today and played 18 holes on the Jubilee Course. Once again the welcome from the staff & members was warm & inviting.
The Jubilee is a short 4284 yds course (from the yellow tees), consisting of eight par 3's & ten par 4 holes. The longest par 4 being only 361yds. However, this was a more challenging course than the Kings due to the course layout & tight fairways.
The tees, fairways & greens were all in great condition, and I completed the course in well under 3 hours - ideal for a quick round before or after work.
A very enjoyable round in beautiful surroundings.

I played at the Three Rivers golf & country club for the first time this week after a friend discovered the Summer Sizzlers special offers on the clubs website. For £25.00 we received 18 holes on the par 72 Kings course followed by ham egg & chips and a pint of lager. There were also options to add breakfast, or take the same deal on the jubilee course for £15.00.
On our arrival we received a very warm & friendly welcome from the staff in the extremely well stocked pro shop, before being shown through into the very comfortable bar/restaurant area. Other food, drinks & snacks were also available.
The Kings course was fantastic, even though it hasn't stopped raining for almost a week. The course was built in 1972 and has matured nicely, with beautiful tall trees lining many of the fairways. The grass on the tees was kept nice & short, as were the undulating fairways. The rough was rough enough without being too long, allowing you to find your ball if you strayed from the fairway. The greens were in very good condition & fairly quick. Quite refreshingly for this type of club, the members we met on the course were extremely friendly & helpful, happy to discuss their membership, the course and the club in general.
On our return to the clubhouse we were served in the spike bar by the helpfull staff. The food was lovely & there was plenty of it. the pint was well deserved.
My experience was a good one & I cant wait to return. Membership was around £58 for a 5 day membership which allowed play Mon-Fri on Kings & Mon-Sun on the Jubilee. This also allows you to play at Stock Brook Manor

A lovely course to play with some interesting, and tricky, holes, not least the par 5 third which presents the high handicapper, such as myself, with a tricky "shoot for the green or lay-up" decision that invariably ends up with a splash and the dropping of a new ball!!! All in all a great place to play golf with a top-notch clubhouse to have some grub in afterwards.

I played this course for the first time at the beginning of November 05 and am due to play again in December. I loved this venue, the facilities & Hospitality were great, pro shop was well stocked but most of all the Kings course was wonderful. I played the Jubilee course in the afternoon, but found it to be a bit bland. I think it is still a young course and with maturity will become enjoyable. The only downside I found with this course (Jubilee) was it extended out a long way, therefore, a lot more walking between certain greens and tees than you might normally experience.
Would love to see a website with course info and layouts, etc.
My overall opinion is this is a great venue for private golfers and societies alike.

Readers should be aware that 3 Rivers is no longer owned by Clubhaus. It was recently sold to Peachey Trust who run Stock Brook Golf and Country Club. As a result of this a great deal of money has been invested in the course to improve drainage, tees and greens as well as the general layout of the course(s). At present all tees are deemed GUR but should be open in Feb 2004 once all the turfing has taken hold. The greens still need some improvement but all in all the time and money being invested will be well worthwhile.
