This is quite a good golf course starting with a long par 5.
The greens where very good when i played and the tee boxes and fairways where also of good standard.
the course makes as much use of the land its on and although its not that hilly, it has a few testing holes.
Staff are friendly but its not the cheapest place for food or drink.
A good mix of hole lengths, playing to your handicap means playing fairly well here.
Worth a knock but warning, it can be busy so pace of play is soooo slooow ( 5 hours 20 min for 18 holes ) very poor show i thought.

12 of us have just completed a 2-day/night break here, our second visit. There is obviously a risk in booking the last weekend of October as far as the weather is concerned, but we completed 54 holes without significant rain! Trolleys and even buggies were allowed, but at least 6 holes had temporary greens and the strangest rule we have come across on a course of this age (over 25 years) You had to tee the ball up, any where on the fairway. Most of the tees were normal apart from the two par threes played off the old railway line to greens 100 or so feet below, which provided every one with a birdie opportunity because of there reduced length, but they were still a challenge! All the other facilities were well liked and used by the non-golfers, and the snooker room provided a further opportunity to extend the competition. As usual the food was good, but because of some large party bookings the service was a little slow, but this just gave us more time to sample the ample wine list.

A long course, being a fair test for golfers of all abilities. Has a tendency to be heavy going in wet weather, and, owing to the high number of Society bookings, slow play can at times be a major headache. Opens with a long par five which is only reachable for the big hitters, this course has some tough walking, and interesting holes based around a disused railway line. Whilst an open course by virtue of it being reasonably "young", several boundary hedges mean accuracy off the tee is required.
