Played the course in October 2007. Received a very friendly welcome. The course was in very good condition, the only issue being one hole closed and another shortened whilst drainage improvement work was being undertaken. The course is in a very confined space and this could lead to problems if busy - it was fairly quiet when I played. You need to be very conservative off the tee - especially if you haven't played the course before. There was one hole where a 6-iron down the middle of the fairway got me into trouble. The meal in the clubhouse was excellent. Overall - very enjoyable.

Played Uttoxeter in May 07. Found all the staff very friendly, and the facilities, food, bar all excellent. The course, while being short requires accuracy, especially around the back 9. Some of the tee shots require you to drop the ball on a sixpence to be in prime spot for your approach. It's easy to rack up 5's and 6's if you dont. A very tough track but very enjoyable all the same. Of our party of 8, only 1 player came close to his handicap, but we will all look forward to returning.

I am an 18 handicapper and played this course for the first time in June 2006. The club is very friendly and was very quiet for our Monday lunchtime tee-off.
One elderly member told me I would have little chance of playing to my handicap because it was a difficult course. He was wrong: I went round the front nine just one over par. I didn't play as well on the second nine - the incessant slopes take their toll! - but still finished well under my handicap.
Basically, as far as I'm concerned, this is a fairly easy course, mainly because it's rather short: on most of the long holes you need to ease off on the power and take, say, a 3-iron from the tee.
Overall I think it's a pretty good track, with some attractive holes and some nice views from the higher parts of the course across the horse-race course and rural Staffs.
One note of possible caution: I would avoid the course at busy times. Why? Because I sensed - and this is not based on experience - that when it is busy it might become a slow and frustating experience. Why? Because a few of the holes partially cut across each other (e.g. 2nd green, 3rd tee, etc) - especially on the first nine.

We played this course in April and have to admit the course was a delight. Although not very long most of the holes were challenging requiring a great deal of accuracy of the tee! Once you had found the greens you would then find some of the quickest greens around. All in all a real plaesure and a shotmakers course. The food was also excellent and very well priced.

Played the course in late March - overall the course was impressive. The greens were quick, stil a bit bobbly though. The layout whilst having holes quite close together was good and the tightness of the course proved quite challenging. Very hilly with lots of "blind" shots so pay attention to the planner on the back of the card and the course markings. Overall very good value and a pleasant club to visit.

Myself and 5 other ladies played Uttoxeter G C two week ago and not only were we impressed with the condition of the course but the very friendly members who welcomed us including Mme Captain, Mme Vice Capt. and Hon Sec. Thank you again for making our day very special.
