One of the best courses we played on the Island, but like most courses we played its on top of a hill and very wind affected, apart from the wind, not much in the way of hazards on the course, but as the course is basically straight out then straight back, if you hit off to the right on most holes you are playing on another holes fairway, some of the holes actually share a fairway. Be carefull when teeing off on the 12th par 3, the 18th green is approx 30 yards in front of the 12th tee. Nice friendly staff, and at £22.50 for and adult and junior well worth a visit

Most members struggle with this enticing little course, so visitors must have their Tiger hat on to get anywhere near par on it. It's a simple principle- take some Down land, put greens and tees on it and let the wind do the rest. Even on a clear day the only shot that works on the way out is a draw (some might say hook) into the prevailing westerly wind off the tee. The par 3 5th is also a massive testing 230yrd effort and in 6 yrs of trying, I've never managed GIR! The views and general experience are fabulous though. Given a choice of playing Ventor or the better known Sandown and Shanklin club, I'd choose Ventnor everytime.

This course is one of the most welcoming clubs I have ever played at. If you are on holiday on the island a day at this club would not be a waste but a day to remember. Do not let the "only 12 holes" put you off, if there is any wind at all you will need your A plus game, but however your playing the views available from this vantage point will always compensate.
