Walton Heath Golf Club Player Reports

Played the old course on the 6/10/07. The only other time that i had even been on the course was whilst watching the US Open qualifiers earlier this year. Having watched some great players tackle this wonderful heathland course i was very excited to play and it didn't dissapoint at all.

What an absolutly lovely course. Fantastic holes, in A1 condition. We had the whole course to ourselves, on a crisp Sunday afternoon, can't get much better than that. I was expecting a very tough round but on the contrary, to play under handicap on a course like this was very fulfilling. The fairways were a little wider than i expected and although the heather is deadly if you happen to go in there.. you really shouldn't be going in there as the fairways are wide enough. The distance is good and that was off the green tees, the pro's play off the purples about 50 yards behind...ouch

Loved this course.

Steve Hart (England) 04/10/06

This is a seriously tough test of golf and if you leave the fairways you have had it!! One of my group described it as "proper golf" and I would have to agree. Great food afterwards, only really bad point, we were thrown out of the bar at 8.30 pm.

I and two friends had the great pleasure of playing the old course on Friday March 24th.

The course was immaculate with greens and fairways absolutely superb. Considering the weather we had during the week before this was even more of a surprise.

Whilst walking around I kept thinking about the greats who had played here, the likes of Faldo and Nicklaus, true giants in the sport.

We enjoyed it so much that we all agreed this will become a yearly event and we will definitely have to play it in the summer.

A truly magnificent course and a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Played in late June 05 - Great course in great condition. Old course is a much tougher test than the New but both are superb. Take plenty of balls.

Ross Simpson (England) 28/04/05

Able to ring on the day and play 90 mins later. Day ticket (now £90) so played both courses with great (and great value) carvery between (Jacket reqd but no longer Tie). Best value day's golf in GB that I can remember. Shame weather varied between shirt/shorts and thunderstorms and that fitness prevented full appreciation of afternoon round. Great courses in tip-top condition (v fast greens). Signs saying 'please stay off the heather' are an understatement! Very accommodating staff. Excellent method of placing 3/4 balls on one course AM and on other course PM. "I'll be back".

Both course's are absolutely fantastic and a pleasure to play!! In perfect condition from tee to green. Every hole is a different challenge and examination of your golf! Played the new course am and thought it was about the best track i've ever played, then played the old pm which was even better! i cannot praise them enough, just a joy to play!! Dont miss out!!!

Richard Freeman (England) 29/02/04

Played two rounds on the Old Course for £80.00 which, I reckon, was good value. Course was deserted, possibly due to the cost or the cold February weather, allowing two full rounds in February despite not teeing off until 10.00 (for a prestigous course I reckon it has the smallest, least obvious road sign of any course in the UK). Absolutely loved it. Beautiful tees and fairways and I imagine for the majority of the year the greens are superb also. Many many excellent holes but in particular I loved the 2nd (long sweeping par 4), the 16th (short par 5 with raised green protected by a huge bunker) and all the par 3s. Interesting clubhouse, bring your 1930s tweed suit. And if you find a dirty pair of Footjoys in the locker room they're mine.....

A classic heathland course in immaculate condition. If you have the time play both the old and new course as they are both as enjoyable and testing.

Fantastic Golf, in a lovely heatland setting. Outdated clubhouse practises however. Have to change into J and T for lunch even if playing 36, as we were. Also started 2nd round late and almost had our stuff locked in on returning at 8:30 as place was locking up. It closes EARLY !!

Without doubt, two of the finest inland links in the UK.

A magnificent test of golf (especially off the new back tees) which are available for use with permission by low hanicap guests.

A unique experience and possibly the only two true heathland courses in Britain
