West Bowling Golf Club Ltd Player Reports
Steve Maloone (England) 13/07/05
As a friendly and forgiving course, it is not neccessarily easy. The course instead of having difficulty, has character. Character which makes it so attractive and why they have so many members on their books.
Greens vary in size and difficulty (no. 9 is extremely challenging as it has three shelves), whilst fairways are similar - long and broad - so the driver is neccessary.
WBGC is renowned for being easy and not being able to put all departments of your game to the test, but this is not the case. As a former Championship course, West Bowling should not be underestimated!
The course simply requires both distance and accuracy, as its long par 5s and narrow par 3s illustrate.

Have played this course a few times this year and is without doubt nice enough without actually being one of the best in the area. It has variety, is not as up and down as some courses and has some challenging par 3's in particular.
At £30 for weekends, it is a bit steep though and doesn't justify this price which is perhaps why it was virtually deserted last Sunday. However winter rates are competitive and does take 2 for 1.
