West Middlesex Golf Club Player Reports

Played this course 3 times now and would say that it is definately worth playing, the unfortunate part is the almost continuous sound of traffic and if you reach the 13th tee - I think - by school playtime you might, if you are easily distracted, be a bit miffed by the sound of the baying and sceaming of kids in the adjacent playground.
There are some good testing holes on this undulating course, particularly the 2nd par three and the 9th, also the water over the 11th is fun.
I'm a high handicapper but I'd still recommend you give it a try if you're in the area.

Am I the only person who plays/reviews this course ?!
Design and condition:
Played on April 22nd after a 2 week dry spell but the course was in good condition and the greens were very quick ! Greens, fairways and bunkers all well kept.
Playability:
West Middx is not a long course, less than 6000 yards but it has a lot of interesting feature holes. After a gentle opening good-leg left, the 2nd is a beauty and daunting for a high handicapper like myself. It's a 180 yard par 3 over a 'ravine'. Fall short and you are in big trouble ! The 11th is a picturesque par 3 over a lake.
Facilities and welcome:
As they are tight for space, there is no driving range, only a couple of nets along with a putting green. The small pro shop is well stocked. Excellent bar.
In summary, this is a very enjoyable course and they take 2-fore-1 vouchers after 2pm at weekends, bringing the cost down to £13 ! Where else can you play for so little at a weekend in London ?!

Palyed here 14/04/2005 and what a gem ! And in the middle of Southall !
They have recently started taking 2-fore-1 vouchers and for £12-50 during the week and £15 at weekends, it is very good value.
It's a bit tricky mind. The 2nd - 180 yards over a gully onto a raised green. The 3rd has a large hump to clear and a tiny raised green to hit. The 9th is a dogleg left with the fairway consisting of lots of little hillocks. The 11th can be daunting for high handicappers - 150 yards oveer the lake. Also, plenty of doglegs. A real thinker's course - which is where I struggled.
Definitely worth a visit and I'll be playing there again son.

Played the course yesterday and really enjoyed it. It is a beautifully laid out old course. Some challenging holes but nothing too strenuous. Just a pity it's not in better condition - some areas were a bit rough.
The 2nd is an excellent hole, and although there is an element of luck involved on the 9th, a well-struck and well-placed tee shot will leave you in position for a short iron to the green.
You could do a lot worse than to spend a few hours around this course.

in my opinion, the best overall package in the area, in terms of price and quality of the course. you can only play on monday and wednesdays though. a bit too much of a challenge for players with handicap over 30 i think, especially hole 2.
nothing spectacular, but everything is pretty good, and some testing holes (long par 3's and some long par 4's) make it a good round of golf.

I've played this course man and boy,and while I agree with some of the comments regarding the ninth hole you must remember golf has good breaks as well as bad. This is a thinkers course rather than a sloggers course. Also don't forget this one of the oldest courses in southern still playing on its orginal site. After playing recently I noticed a lot of work being carried out the bunkers which should be ready spring 2004 representing even better value for money.A friendly clubhouse rounded off a good day.
