I played this course on Friday 4th June 2004.

I was pleasantly surprised after playing the first couple of holes and was then confronted with a small mountain to climb to the third green.

To be honest it may see off someone with heart problems.

The 4th is a dificult par 3 across a valley very picturesque. Then on to the 5th I can only describe this as frightening, sloping fairways both sides, trees everywhere and no where to land a ball safely at all, it is a hole that does not benefit a good golfer to say the least. I hit a perfect 270 yard drive only to end up running off the fairway into trouble. The 6th is a typical looking par 4 but don't be fooled the fairway is again so sloping that a good lie is near on impossible to get. The 7th is a good but tough par 3 across the valley again and then onto the 8th (where do I hit the ball??)again a good drive does not always provide the right outcome take a club smaller than you think and you will be ok.

The Back nine are Dull Flat and Long the shared 16th/17th fairway makes for some interesting ducking and a decent long hole to finish.

The food was fantastic after the match and everyone was very friendly. I have to wonder though what they were thinking when they designed the front nine !!

Give it a go you may like it, I think it suits higher handicap players, good luck

Having played the course on friday 27th sept I found the course alittle up and down the first 9 is the hilly side of the course with the rough unforgiving, hole 3 is a killer 280yds ish all up hill and I'm talking steep!! The back nine is flat, more open and altogether a more forgiving nine.

The greens were very quick if a bit thread bare fairways were ok, as I said on the front 9 try and find a flat lie!

The course is a beautiful woodland course set in a scenic part of Staffordshire. Westwood consists of two contrasting nines; the first nine requires extreme accuracy and the second requiring length off the tee.

The club has excellent facilities and is superb value for money.
