Widnes Golf Club Player Reports
Tom - (England) 17/05/08
Widnes Golf Club is a really good, average length course. It can be very demanding in places. The course at this time of year approaching summer is in fantastic condition. Greens are quite soft but can be very quick. The par 5's are quite short but very tricky especially the 6th. Beware of the out of bounds on the left. Any hook from the tee will result in the ball oob. The par 3 15 may look like an easy short hole but looks can be deceptive. The bunkers at the front of the green can be tough to get out of and the green slopes quite severly so make sure you read the putt as correctly as possible or you may be in 3 putt country! Finally the par 3 18th is again another superb closing hole. Uphill it can play really long when the wind is blowing . The rough to the left of the green is quite deep an can promote a tough shot over the bunkers!
Off course the facilities are good. The clubhouse is a warm and inviting place to be as the staff are very helpfull. The pro shop is quite small but Jason (the pro) will help you with any queries you may have. All in all the course is a delight. Even though it is quite short it can be very testing in parts.

Nice Private Course... Good Facilities, made to feel very welcome...
Course was open when many around were closed due to bad weather... Greens tight but in remarkably good condition.
Tight fairways as well...
Not the most stunning of courses but a good test nevertheless. Recommended.
