Frodsham Golf Club Player Reports
Peter Frost (England) 19/09/08
A pleasant course with rolling fairways and good greens. Three notable holes are the par 5 13th and 18th, and the par 4 16th (SI 1)

The course is a reasonable test for medium handicap players.
The fairways and general condition of the course is first class..but the greens are a very big let down with absolutely no room for even a fractions error. The greens are hard, with absolutely no hold, very patchy (diseased??) and as a result produce an uneven roll.
If the greens were sorted out it would be a truly magnificent course.

Pete BOYCE (England) 31/10/05
Played on 28/10/05 with our Golf Society of 25 members on a windy day follwoing a week of wet weather. The fairways and greens were excellent.
Not a soggy patch on the course. The course is fairly tough but fair. There are a few blind shots and not playing the course before and without a strokesaver on sale, it became a bit of a lottery at times. There were a few longish walks between holes and some of the holes were open to the elements. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the 3 course meal afterwards was excellent. We all agreed that Fordsham will be on our agenda for next year and I persoally will be going back to play with other friends. I am planning to go back in summer as none of the greens were flat and I would imagine would be extremely hard when dry and fast. All in all I would recommend a trip out to Frodsham for any golfer.

Matt Hayes (England) 25/10/05
Fanstastic Golf Course -
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th unchallenging for long drives with good chips possible birdie chances on all
5 a par 3 170 to the pin up a very steep slope
6 and 7 again easy holes and birdie chances fro long hitters.
the 8th is a medium lenghth par 4 but with a green hard to hit in two unless very accurately driven and 9 a short 100 yard par 3 easy to hit in one.
10 has long grass infront of tea although if it is avoided it is a very birdieable hole.
I was told eleven is the only hole that has never been birdied or better and i am not suprised a long drive and a long second would leave this 570 yard par 5 gleaming for another par.
12,13, are both quite easy holes especially for accurare hitters
14 a hard par 3 good accurate hitters may hit the green in one but poorley hit shots will be payed for.
15 a hard par 4 green in two is possible although easy to leave your approach short or long.\
16 the hardest hole on the course over a huge ditch is the best shot although it requires a floated 250 yard drive. approaches to the green are hard as the green is set down with two oak trees in the middle of the fairway accuracy is important 17 again is a difficult par 3 to hit in one although if done an easy birdie oppertunity - 18 the hole a par 5 - around 570 yrds and a large pond protecting the green big hitters may come away with birdies although safe play is the best option.

Robert (Bob) Nixon (England) 01/09/05
A real test of golf when the wind is blowing and the greens are dry. If you are a visitor and don't have 3 or more putts on a hole, you've done well. Hole 16 (SI 1) is a good test even with a good drive - beware of the tree in the middle of the fairway for the approach to the green. A good society course. Food and service is excellent.
