Gedney Hill Golf Course Player Reports

Gedney is a terrific place to play golf.Easy to get on especially midweek it has several challenging holes including the "Monster" par 5 second and possibly the most challenging of all the 8th which although short is a completely blind tee shot onto a small island green and is described as a "card wrecker".I love the laid back approach on attire and the staffs friendly attitude.Only downside is a lack of midweek catering otherwise this course offers outstanding value at only £9.50 per round midweek.A great little course.

Ross Parton (England) 26/03/03
I played this course for the first time today (25-03-2003).
Unfortunately the greens had been spiked and top dressed which made them very rough to putt.
I was made aware of this before playing and given a 2-4-1 voucher for use at a future date.
The first 7 holes are very open and play very long. (The 600+ yard 2nd seems to go on for ever!)This part of the course will be extremely tough when all the current redesigns are complete.
The next 7 holes are mature and despite their short length are deceptively hard. (knowledge of the course would probably make it easier)
The three holes on the far side of the road are slightly newer but tricky none the less and the eighteenth is another mature hole which, although short for a par 4, is not that easy.
Generally, the main part of the course is short but tricky. Tiny greens with huge breaks and ponds instead of bunkers (There are some bunkers!) make this course the domain of the acuurate hitter rather than the long hitter. The course could do with more sign posts to guide golfers to the next tee but otherwise a most enjoyable course to play.
Only one big grumble - The grey flags on the front 9, think they may have been white once, desperately need replacing with something more visible.
