Ansty Golf Centre Player Reports
Elliott Shaw (England) 06/09/07
I am 15 years old. And my first time here was back in April 2006. I will admit that i was abysmal. I was in the high 160's. Oh dear. But now after 17 months i have finally got my score down to 92 (45 out 47 in) If you compare this course to others such as Brandon Wood, there is nothing even remotely similar. Ansty does have a FEW difficult holes (12&13) but other than that it's quite an easy course. The 1st is very easy 2nd a little bit harder, but still reachable in 2. I do find the 14th quite difficult beacuse i have got it wrong there on more than one occaision, and i've hit the tree and the ball sped back at me and hit me in the chest. It is very dangerous having such a small gap to aim for onto the fairway. I do have to mention the 4th hole in here too. Iplayed back in the autumn and it was SO boggy that my foot would just stay in the mud. Ansty have not got a proper drainage system so most fairways are boggy. I do prefer the back 9 to the front though. I do like the 18th but maybe thats because i've parred it the last 3 times. HA HA!!!!! I just think it needs to be more challenging. Oh and guys, drop the price. On a weekend me and my dad went and it was £36. £36? £20 and £16. It is soooooo much more expensive than any municipal course i've played on.

Played Ansty quite a few times now and really enjoy the course. Went after the downpour of rain a few weeks ago and the course played really well, only the 18th fairway at the bottom had water on, all the greens were fine.
The club house is nice and welcoming, as are the staff and club pro.

Played on 9/5/2007. The course is in very good condition with the rough not left too long. The course is interesting with canal boats, trains, planes and motorways passing by. It is a good challenge for higher handicappers like me as it is not frightening but not easy either. We teed off at the booked time and had a very pleasurable round at a reasonable price. I shall play here again.

Played a round here last weekend, and really liked the place.
The course is not the longest you will find, and the fairways are generally quite generous, but as a beginner this suited me well.
Dont let this fool you into thinking the course is easy though, there are many patches of thick trees waiting to gobble up your ball, including some that concealed water hazards!
Not the most scenic course perhaps, but quite pleasant. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition, and even though there had been a lot of rain just before I played, the course was well drained. In fact, it even seemed to drain itself during the course of the front 9!
I thought the clubhouse was very good as far as pay and play courses go. There was a spike bar, lounge area, restaurant, changing, and a well-stocked pro shop. I was particularly pleased to find that I was not treated any diferrently due to the fact that I was playing on my own, as some courses do.
Overall, great value for money and enjoyable to the extent that I am considering becomming a full member (but want to check out some of the other pay and plays in the area first).

I've played this course loads over the summer its great for beginners and improving golfers. The fairways and greens are well maintained coaching is excellent I can recommend a lesson with Mark. The range and putting areas are good but the club house could do with a face lift.

played today 8/8/05 and the course is in tip top shape. a reasonable challange to all level players. cheap in the week at 13 pounds for 18 holes. worth a look. short game course fun but range bit tatty. putting green and chipping green good to.

Picturesque in parts with the canal running through the middle of the course. I am a high handicapper and felt the fairways were sufficiently generous to come away pleased with how I had played. The greens were fine and it appears that they keep using them throughout the year as the course is very well drained.

course is going down hill was good but needs a good clean up and green cut ( rough should not be 2 foot deep )
good for beginner
Henry Shinners (England) 25/06/03
A well maintained municipal course particularly suited to the beginner/improving golfer. The grass on the greens was much longer than one would expect from a good private course and the course is quite short & forgiving. Therefore, it's not testing and I scored 43 points playing off 19 (without playing out of my skin) to prove it.

As a beginner to golf, I was looking to find a decent quality course which didn't cost the earth for a round, where you didn't have to be a member, need a handicap and not have to book tee times 3 weeks in advance.
This course is spot on !
Quite a few difficult & challenging holes with a few water filled obstacles. I've only played on about half a dozen golf courses, but the greens on this one seemed in excellent condition.
