Gary Shrimpton (England) 02/08/06
Welcoming staff and a great course for medium-high handicappers that's improving all the time. The first four holes are relatively straightforward but establish the themes of sloping fairways and unsighted approach shots. The 5th's a favourite, a wicked longish par 4 crossed by water. The 10th and 13th are both short dog-legs that ought to be simple but somehow never turn out that way, sandwiching the latest additions, the 11th and 12th - rather underprepared on debut in 2005 but now settling in nicely and made more challenging by perennial gusty winds. The 16th is a swine of a hole, a great place to hit a drive but with a killer second, and the par-5 17th will drain you of your last ounces of energy - stay right or fight a losing battle with gravity. Overall, it's a course that's not long or all that hard, but needs a bit of careful planning to obtain a good score.
