i recently played the windmill and since the day i played ive told no end of people about it and will be going back very soon . personaly i think the first three holes being short helps get into the swing (ha ha) of things gets your eye in and you dont kill yourself trying to do a 250 300 yard drive, when you get to the greens they speak for themselves smooth and fast, lots of water for those who are brave enough to attack it and after the game a very warm welcome in the complex .

overall i would give 8.5 out of ten well done guys look forward to coming back

arrived on the morning on 17/03/06 and was checked in within minutes hassle free. the course i found very challenging altho a little short it was most enjoyable altho tricky. i would highly reccomend this course to anyone looking to improve on there green and short game as some of the greens are the most hardest iv ever played on. overall the staff hotel , food and golf course including evening entertainment most enjoyable and of a very high and excellent standard. you most definately will be seeing me again in the summer. many thanks for your hospitality,kind regards, adam capell (leicester) england.

Played here on the 24th jan 06. it cost £17.50 for two to play less than £9 each!

the cause was in fantastic condition the greens where like putting on a vevet carpet ,very very good.

A good challenge for golfers of all standerds long doesnt mean good on this course. friendly staff and members helped the day , food not so great though. all in all a top day and well worth a play if you can.

I play here on a regular basis and take advantage of the midweek two for one offer in the winter. What a bargain, cheaper than my local municiple course. Although it is a short course there is plenty of challenging holes and some tricky shots over water. All of the greens are in fantastic condition.I have played many midland courses and the Windmills' greens are second to none. Over all although it is not the longest course there is still plenty of trouble spots to make it a good challenge.

Played mid November saturday afternoon. £17.95 a round. Not a bad course but probably one I won't return to. Very busy and so we could not finish the 18 despite teeing off at 1pm. This was probably as a result of the first three holes being par 3's, so everyone bunched up and there were a lot of hackers.

Layout OK, but no real test because the distances were short. As a golfer with a 20+ handicap I was getting pars on many of the par 4 holes.

Comments on the greens were true -lightening quick and some very tricky pin positions. You thought it wouls stop and then it headed off to the edge of the green. Must be a nightmare in the summer.

I play at the club often, and I can't belive some of the negative comments what have been said even if it was a few years ago. Even toufh it is relitivly short it still stands as a vey challenging course. The greens and fairways are in great condition, all the staff and golfers you see around the course are vey pleasent to talk to. The course is improveing day by day and work is always going on to bring exellance as standard.

Played in the Windmill open comp on 10 July 2005. As per my previous comments on this course I would like to say how much the course has come along in the few years I have been visiting. I also played the Forest of Arden (Arden course) and the welcombe at stratford on avon the previous 2 days and the windmill was by far the best manicured of the 3. New signage and care and attention that has gone in from the greens team (who deserve a pat on the back) makes this course a must play if you live nearby. A hotel on site which overlooks the course is well appointed and the staff throughout the whole complex could not be more friendly and helpful.

A nice course to play for the not so long hitters.What it lacks in distance it more than makes up for on the greens,they are undulating and fast.I like it here and I play it fairly often.worth a try I think youll enjoy it

As this club is down the road from me, i made this course the first golf course that i have played on. I went round the course with no experience of playing and thoroughly enjoyed the day out. The course is kept in perfect condition and, although fairly short, a challenging course nevertheless. I would recommend trying this course to anyone although the price (£20 on saturday) is a bit heavy.

having played this course on numerous occasions i have found it to be a very good test of a golfers abillity.some of the par 3s are extremley challenging.this course looks like it has great potential,and looks to be a great course for the future

Well I read all the comments on here and decided to "give it a go" and a good job too. What a fantastic and friendly welcoming course!! Congratulations to all those who have made it the course it is today! I have played various courses up and down the country and have never been to a more inviting course. The holes from start to finish all have something to offer. I would recomend this course to begginers as its a great course to find your golfing feet. I would also recomend the course to the more experienced golfer who wants to polish up on his skills as you will need to have used every trick in the book to get round all 18 holes sucessfully. There are large stretches of water on some holes, which makes the course so scenic and so much fun to play. Dont be put off if your a new golfer because there are other options open to you until you master your game. I even go around the edge of the water if my game is not going as planned. I hope people will ignore the negative comments about this club as its truly fantastic. ( No im not getting paid to type this!) Get the wife to become a gym member and while she is using the sun beds and the pool you can use the full 18 holes!! Only slight hitch is that its a very addictive course.

Played this week. Yes this is a rather short course, however the sloping greens on many holes make for tricky approach shots. The course was in superb condition compared to many local pay and play courses and the members we met very helpful. Not that cheap but a great confidence boost to bag some birdies on reachable par fives.

The course was in good condition for the end of Feb. Positive points- short but challenging holes, lovely surroundings, friendly staff and good ale.

Negative points- slightly confusing layout for 1st timers, very small temporary greens.

Overall a nice course - should be better when greens are in operation .

Since my last visit to the Windmill there has been a vast improvement, the greens and fairways are in top nick. Managed to play on a glorious day this time and the course looked great, especially looking out from the hotel which overlooks the course. Staff are very helpful and welcoming, made you feel at home. Have drastically changed my view on this after my last visit and intend to play this course and others in the area when visiting my family.

We played Windmill midweek, on a warm day with steady breeze. Our group of four are all high improving handicaps. We found the course short but challenging. Greens were far from flat but beautifully maintained. Hazards were generally put in places that made you think rather than just blast a drive off the tee. The course was very busy, which is usually a good indicator of value. Several of the par 4s were reachable from the tee. I even managed to reach two par 5s in two, this on a day when my driving left a lot to be desired. A great boost to my confidence.

Facilities were adequate. A members locker room with shower and toilet facility was available. The shop could be bigger considering it is situated in a "Golf village". Refreshments were available at a pub style bar, with seats (thankfully) outside. the buggies we hired were clean and servicable. A competition had been played prior to our arrival, but the members seemed indifferent to our presence, (this meant as a compliment). indeed the members we met on the course were courteous and helpful. All in all, a good day out.

only played the Windmill as my brother works in the pro shop there. I am from the north east and have visited him a couple of times and managed to get a round in. Compared with the course I work for it does not compare but still an ok course, found the 1st hole a par 3 very dissapointing, after this hole it luckily got better as it was a cold day when I played. Would play it again but would not force myself if i was staying nearby but all in all okay for the length of course worth a visit at least

Obviously, some of the guys who have left comments on this page should be playing on the pro tour, Yes the course is short but it is a very challenging test and the unusual 3 par 3's to start are difficult but not impossible, the down hill shot's are designed to make the hole hard and only a well struck iron will hold the green. Overall the course is in excellent condition, the 7th, 9th and 17th hole par 5's provide an opportunity for the longer hitters to have a go. The 12th and 13th (Nightmare alley- as it is known locally) can give most players nightmares, with out of bounds left and water ditches right.

Overall, whether you are a low, mid or high handicap player, there is something to suit all abilities.

I agree mostly what other have said but wish to add my two pennies worth.

I found the course more of a pitch and putt type course, very short but has some tricky chip shots to come onto the green. You don't really need a wood around this course and some par 4's are disappointedly short (275yds).

I wouldn’t recommend this course to a low handicapper and only worth the value if you take a ‘twilight’ deal - £25 for two with buggy.

I stayed at the hotel this weekend 24/03/01. The hotel is OK, but the room allocated to us was quite old fashioned. Having said that major refurbishment is currently being carried out.

The course is quite short but interesting with some good use of the water hazards.

I found the members to be very friendly and accomodating.

All in all a very pleasant place to stay, especialy for newcomers to the game the course is very fair if you can keep the ball straight. You do not have to hit it 250 yards as with some courses.

After reading the previous feedback we were not very enthusiastic about visiting our chosen venue. However one mans nectar is another mans poison, the course was in excellent shape, on first impression the course was short but after our first round we soon realised short does not equate to easy. Hotel, food & nightly entertainment was great value for money. New owners and investment underway will surely benefit this excellent venue next year. We had an excellent weekend and all 40 of us will return next year.

Unfortnatley the course is very dissapointing but suitable for all handicaps. With sensable play you need only a 6 iron or lower on all par 4 and 5 holes. The course opens with 3 very short par 3's, 2 of which run down hill and impossible to hold on the greens. The hotel is clean although some of the rooms have a damp smell, the food is reasonable, the staff are very friendly and helpful and they made us feel very welcome.

A confusingly dissapointing course. With short opening holes and poorly maintained long holes. Playing around lakes that suit fishermen rather than golfers. With a bouncy, unpredictable, landing on any part of the course, it provides a challenge for few but enjoyment for many golfers. Greens in good condition, members friendly. However, not the best value for money in this course rich area.
