South Beds. Golf Club Player Reports

This is a great golf course with a good clubhouse and set in a beautiful area. South beds main course is a wonderful club players course with a variety of holes, short, long, right and left. The greens are the usually the best I ever play and makes putting a dream, you have every chance of holing your putts as your ball runs true. My favourite hole is the 16th a short par four which is a visual delight off the tee and is defended by a sloping green which keeps the birdies down. The one hole which lets the course down is the mickey mouse par three 12th, it has no place on a course of this quality. This course always has full membership and hence is always busy. The course also has the dreaded board two starting point system, and every member knows the board is king, so be careful to tee off the correct tee. If you get a chance to play here with a member or in a society it is well worth the green fee. The county championship was held here this year with some quality players taking part. I think you will find the course sent a few of young guns home to think again!. Although I am a member of another course I have to accept this is the best course in our immediate area by a long way.

Atfer a quick 9 holes I tried the 9 hole course .Its fairly open with 3no par 3's and not that long but not to bad .As always with courses of this type the greens seem a touch small and in places its tight .Worth giving a try if you have a spare hour and a half .

I was lucky enough to play this course last week when I was taken round by a member friend and I have got to say this is one of the best courses I have been fortunate to play the greens and the fairway were in fantastic condition even the lunchtime snack was great I hope to visit this course again in the near future
