Dainton Park Golf Club Player Reports
Stuart Head (England) 07/11/06
I was on holiday in devon with my family but a lone golfer, which is a difficult possition to be in, as we all realise.
I went to Dainton and was treated with respect and helpfullness, this was the first time I had been there and was really happy with the total ambiance of the facility.
This culminated with not only having a really nice game of golf but arrangements being made for me to join up with one of the members.
The course played well and the company was really good, a very pleasant day, thank you.
I would recomend any player to endevour to play this nice pleasant course and take the time to appreciate the lay out and the thought behind the course.
Once again I thank the Pro and the member that I played with. Thank you. Stuart Head

I played the course for the first time on August bank holiday, I found the course to be quite challenging with lots of deep bunkers and plenty of water hazards. The staff where very friendly. I would play the course again on our next vist to Devon.

Having played on this course about once every six months since it was opened, I have seen the strides forward this course has taken. It started, as many courses do with "teething problems", but I have to say that these are now all forgotten and the course is on its way to being established ahead of its time. I spend quite a bit of time in Devon and Dainton Park would be in my top 3 choices for a round. If I went on warmness of welcome and un-pretentious hospitality it would be easily first! A joy and a bargain.

Certainly worth a game, first two holes present you with water hazards that come very much into play. Other holes of note include the 8th, a very well presented par 3. The back nine is more undulating with slightly less variety, e.g. longish par fours, elevated tees then climbs to the greens. However some well placed water and large bunkers catch the wayward shot. The Par 5 16th is a good test but quite reachable in two.
If you're playing well, this is a fair course where a very low score could be compiled.
Good society course.
