Yep, as per the note on the main page, this course is no longer in existance due to the new owner wanting a mansion house and not a golf course. As it is at the moment (March 2008), there is not much likelyhood of it being restored

This is definitely a golfing experience to forget. I can only agree with Jeremy's comments below.
Poor design, poor layout, even worse condition.
Enough said.

I was in the local area looking for a round of golf whilst visiting my friends in Warminster (About 3 miles down the road) They suggested West Wilts, but 2 society's were already booked, so we left that course till the following day.
The clubhouse is very nice, even if it does require a paint job.
As for the course, well I'm afraid to say it was not very good at all. The condition was appauling and the green staff have clearly never been told about adding some rough.
Off the tee you simply will not find an easier course. It's wide open with no danger coming into play for the better players. As for it's defences around the greens, well they would hardly make you shake in your boots. The green side bunkers can only be described as sand pits.
On the only plus side for this course was the spike bar, where a nice pint was served and pleasent company. (No golfers in sight though)

Went there on a society day and the price was exceptional value for money. A course that encourages you off the tee and which you should score well on. Wide fairways incorporating low cut semi-rough. The “real” rough is knee high but is not really "in play" unless a shot is very wayward. The greens were very slow but this may have been due to the amount of recent rain. The feature holes were the two which bordered the lake and the long par five. Good facilities.
