Singing Hills Golf Course Ltd. Player Reports

Singing Hills is a decent layout with some very interesting holes especially on the river 9. The valley gets a bit cramped in the middle part but the river is very good. The tee shots are a easy but the approachs to the greens are great. Many of the greens are set by hazards or in gently mounds. Favourite hole has to be the par 3 5th on the valley where you play to a green surrounded by a stream. In the winter when i played here the tee was set in a little wooden building on stilts which was interesting!

Played here in a society on 18th April. We set off immediately after a massive and prolonged downpour. The course seemed to drain very well indeed. It is a newish course with lots of water hazards. It is not built on chalk, so I am not sure why this should be the case.
The course was in a very pretty setting. It was in good condition with nice tees and greens. It was challenging, but it did not have any real terrors - the island green is only a very short iron. Fairways are reasonably wide with no fairways bunkers. Trees are not a problem apart from one narrow, tree-lined par three and the last hole on one of the nines, where there is a tree directly in front of the green (which is also guarded by water). So it makes a good venue for a society.
On the negative side:-
Distances are not very well sign-posted. There are coloured circles set in the fairway but no posts at the side of the fairway. Nor does it say on the card (or indeed the strokesaver) what distance each colour represents.
If you need a buggy you are out of luck, they do not have them.
Practice area is noisy. The pro stands there chatting to people while you are trying to concentrate on hitting balls
It is not as cheap now as earlier correspondents suggest. Prices are comparable with other courses.
Food was good for the evening meal. They also seemed to be doing good business in the restaurant with non-golfers - particularly for a Monday lunch time.
I would definitely go back, even though it is closer to Brighton than London.

Played this mid Feb 03. Excellent layout with three nines. River & lakes likely the best two. Great layout, one of the best in Brighton area. Tees & Greens in excellent condition. Slight criticism would be that the course doesn't drain so well so a little boggy this time of year. Apart from that well worth the trip especially as on Monday's it's only 15 quid. Great deal. Clubhouse and proshop very good. Reflective of the whole set up.

Fairly new course which has yet to mature. Some nice holes although if you slice or hook you'll probably end up on another fairway.
The facilities and club house are excellent and this is well worth a visit...great value for money.
