De Vere Herons' Reach Player Reports
Nick Locker (England) 12/02/08
This is a very pleasent course to play and considering the weather and amount of rain the previous week, was also well looked after. There are some good tight holes but too many holes (par 4 & par 5) that are reachable in either 1 or 2 shots. Saying that there are some tough holes and likeable par 3's. The greens were good and true despite the amount of traffic as there were many people on the course and the time of year. Very good and interesting course and would visit again!!

Having read the previous comments, I can only say that there must have been significant improvements during the last couple of years. I thought the course was in good condition and well maintained and judging by the number of people on the course, it is very popular. Although the greens were slower than most at this time of year (8/06), they were true. The 4 par 5s are all relatively short and reachable in 2. There are a number of lakes which make the course more interesting but generally they do not come into play. Herons' Reach is a typical man made course with 'manufactured' terrain and features. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant course to play despite the relative slow play of the lady members who didn't appreciate that they were holding up the field.

What can I say fabulous course the only thing I could knock was, at the end of each hole there was no signs or arrows to tell you where the next tee was. I for one would play their again.

Played this course in July 2004 and as stated in the previous comments first impressions are good, staff were friendly. Once you get to the driving range this changes poor quality bays and balls not what you expect from De Vere. The course itself was in very poor condition. Fairways werent defined, tee boxes were as long as the rough and the greens were very wooly. Not sure that some of the bunkers had been raked this year let alone that day. We got the green fee for £23 (weekend)and that was about all it was worth had we payed the £45 advertised I would have felt robbed. The hotel is really nice though.!

Played here during a stag weekend on Friday 14th May. First impressions when you drive in are great. Reception from golf staff was 1st class, the course has a nice layout with lots of variation. A couple of downsides with the course was the par 3's were almost all the same length with no long one were quite reachable for many a golfer with a pitching wedge or 9 iron. The course was manicured ok, a bit more cutting required on some parts of the course to tidy it up and give it that wow factor. All in all a nice course to play (watch out at weekends as we found it can be quite busy as it took us 5 hours and we missed out the 18th)
