Truly an excellent course. A good mixture of engaging fairways and excellently presented greens. The course has plenty of ups and down and some interesting water, including a covered bridge. Your score will benefit from good positional driving and accurate approach play.
While I have to admit that it was a fabulous weather and I played my best for years, a lot of my enjoyment came from the beautiful designed course, with a good variation of holes.
A little expensive for Cornwall but, given the quality of the course, I felt it was well worth it.

Very nice course. Lots of interesting, character holes. Green fees were reduced to £20 due to the greens being hollow tined. One grumble was that we were told that we would be able to use a 'Two-for-One' voucher when we reserved our 9.22 tee time over the phone, but were informed that this was only useable for rounds starting after 1 o'clock, when we turned up. That aside, we enjoyed our round very much, particularly the back 9, which drops down out of the wind into the valley of the river Allen, the thirteenth being a real treat alongside and over the water.

Played all day here. Not cheap but quality.
Fairways and greens in superb condition. First 9 is more open and slightly less challenging than the back nine. Favourite hole is the Par 4 12th. One of the most beautiful and challenging holes I have played.
Loved this couse. Will undoubtably return.

Played 2 courses over a weekend Bowood Park & St Mellion (Nicklaus)& Bowood does it for me, It was in better shape. Not as difficult but enough for a 20 handicapper like me to deal with. Staff made us feel extremely welcome as visitors & we will all certainly be back.

I played three rounds at Bowood Park in August 2003 with four friends, and we all agreed that this was one of the best parkland courses we had played.
The holes are well designed and virtually every one presents a challenge, with decisions to be made from the tee.
The par fives are outstanding, particularly the 585-yard seventh (which became known to us as 'the brute'), and the 13th, which requires a second shot shaped around the sharpest of dog-legs.
Many of the par fours are very tough, particularly the 12th and 15th, where bad shots will be buried in watery graves.
The course is in fine condition, and the greens are true and fast, if patchy in colour.
It's a real challenge - I'm a nine-handicapper and I left reflecting on rounds of 85, 86 and 85. I hope to improve this record when we return next year. This relatively new course will become even better as trees mature.
The hotel is very comfortable and the staff friendly. The three-course dinners are delicious and the overall value for golf breaks is exceptional.

Our small group of six played this last March after some fairly heavy rain and we found the course to be in first class condition through out.
There really wasn't an uninteresting hole on the course, and we found the back nine to be above average and a good challenge for all levels.
The welcome was friendly and accommodating.
We all enjoyed it so much that it is the only course played last year that we we are going back to this year.
The real beauty of the course is that it is a fair test for golfers of all abilities. I play off a 27 handicap.

We just came back from a three day stay at the hotel and were really well looked after. The course was in great condition bearing in mind it's December (no temporary greens being the best bit). My favourite was the 16th - not the longest of par 4's but just such an attractive looking hole.
Ross Barnard (UK) 08/08/02
A great course that I have enjoyed a number of times. Open fairways allow for some ragged shots! The pleasure is the 10th, 12th & 13th all gems which need more considered care.

played for the first time recently in a competition and our team came second so in my opinion its a wonderful course. Wonderfully wide open fairways which favoured my slice off the tee but lightning fast greens which are murder to read
