We played this course again at the weekend and thought I'd just update my review of 3 years ago.
I possibly enjoyed the course even more this time around. A special mention has to go for the greens which are the best I have played on in a long while (Aphrodite Hills, Cyprus apart), and I play at the Forest of Arden which has very good greens.
The facilities are excellent and the course is immaculate. I don't know what the course would be like in the winter months. I imagine that some of the hills and slopes could be quite tricky in the wet but as I have only played in the summer, that's all I can comment on.
The only critism I could give is that the course isn't too difficult. The fairways are wide and the greens are pretty large. And the fact that the greens are so good and run very true really helps to keep your score down.
So... I highly recommend this course. Take plenty of drinks in the hot weather though because, if you're walking, you'll need them.

I joined Wharton Park on the 15th June 2007. I joined the club and I had not even played the course. After the first hole I fell in love with the course. The views are outstanding and I would highly recommend it.There are some really hard holes.

Played the course yesterday for the first time and have to give it a big thumbs up. It's in pretty good condition, a couple of small bare patches on a couple of greens but nothing to complain about. It is hilly and I'd advise taking lots of water on a hot day. There are some good holes where you can open your shoulders and give it a lash and others where you have to think about shot selection and play more cautiously. Great views.

First of all, I have played this course several times over the years with clients. It is a beautifully laid out course and is generally in good condition. It is extremely hilly and despite what you may hear, you will need a good level of fitness and my advice would be to hire a buggy as we always do. To conclude, good course, lovely views, not too challenging but beware, certain members are very stuffy and can be quite curt. Good clubhouse & pro shop.

I have played at Wharton Park a number of times over the last few years and for my money it keeps getting better and better. As a single figure handicapper and someone that pays a lot of golf in the UK and around Europe I think it is one of the best 'new' courses I have played. I was apprehensive to start with as I had been warned about the walking, I have not found it a struggle as most of the inclines are long rather than short steep hills (they do have lots of buggies available!). Work has been carried out to remove the more challenging slopes. The views are excellent and significantly add to the enjoyment of playing golf. The facilities at the club are excellent from the well equipped pro shop to the excellent new Greens restaurant. I would thoroughly reccomend this course to anyone wanting an enjoyable day out. In addition it seems to be an extremely friendly place lacking the attitude you get at some clubs.

Every time I play here, for some unknown reason, I wake up the next morning with a bad back! It certainly takes a lot out of you if you don't hire a buggy for your round! The par threes on the course are very commendable but to my mind, this is as far as it goes. A majority of tee shots are blind and on nearly all holes, your going up a hill, over a hill, or down a steep slope and back up an identical one. I'll only be playing there again if forced to.
