I'm just coming to the end of my first season as a member here, and everything i said in my initial review still stands.
but, be warned this is a course that does not drain well at all, and as a consequence it has been closed a great deal over the winter. If you are planning a visit to roundwood over the winter months give the course a ring to make sure its open or you could end up disappointed

I think you will find it money well spent. the course is owned by the steelworks and the members and groundstaff seem to take pride and care in this private course.
I must disagree with the other chap though who said the greens were large, they aren't. They are a touch on the small side.
Roundwood is a very forgiving course ( you wont lose many balls ) and without the small greens some wouldnt find it very challenging, but virtually everyone playing this course for the first time is going to enjoy it. It is a little cracker.

Roundwood golf course is a thinking mans course, you dont have to be long off the tee to put a good score together. But dont take this course lightly from the 2nd hole par 3 which off the yellows is only 109 ydsbut miss the green and you will be happy with a bogeyright up to the finnish where water comes into play on 4 of the last 5 holes 14th and 17th greens protected by water and 15th and 16thwith dykes on the fairway. the whole course is well presented with numerouse fairway and greenside bunkers. the greens are large and undulating and very soft, all in all a excellant course to visit

I have played with a member Mr J.Dickinson and I found the course very well presented and in very good condition.Maybe very slightly on the short side but not being a long hitter this was to my advantage.I have applied to join the club when a vacancy becomes availiable and look forward to that happening, then I will be able to play regularly, especially during the weekdays as my employment gives rise to iregulare hours.I did not use the catering or bar facilities but I will be doing if I become a member.
