1st of all i would like to point out that this course is no longer known as 'Robin Hood Golf Course' and is now 'Owston Hall Golf Club'. Ive just made myself a member this year and love the course everytime i play it. The Course can be forgiving on most holes as the fairways are wide and on some there can be other fairways running paralell. The course has some great Par 5`s with Tricky Greens which is where the low Stroke Indexes come into play. 4 Holes (10th,13th,14th & 18th) feature water hazzards near the greens. The Course is always in great condition and features some of the best fairways in the UK.

i play this course regular and every time it just gets better. the greens are always upto high standards and the fairways like carpets. BUT why the 4th is'nt stroke index 1 baffles me. tree lined fairway, two trees in the middle of the fairway and roughage to the left side of the green, which is rightly the way to approach the green. the st/index 1 is just a sloggers hole, straight, no obsticles, and being a 20 handicapper have parred it the last three times, speaks for itself. but dont take my word for it try the course yourself you'll have a great day out on probably doncasters finest.

Tony Bentley (England) 17/07/07

Just got back from a golf break at Owston Hall. Despite the torrential rain on the Sunday the course was still open and very playable.

The course is suitable for all levels with a good mixture of holes. We had a mixed ability group who all enjoyed the course. The shortest Par 3 is 155 off the yellows, and there are three of the four Par 5's are a good test for the average golfer.

The professional was accommodating allowing us to tee of earlier than our booked times on both Sunday and Monday

The hotel itself is very nice, and will soon include a swimming pool as part of its facilities. Food was good and it was a nice surpise to find the bar prices very reasonable.

Would be happy to return.

Excellent course with first class facilities. Amazing holes that will test the best golfers, in the warmer months definatelly a course not to be missed. In winter not much different January 2007 and stil on propper greens!!

First class staff on and off the course. Tee off times kept on time, fairways cut all year round, fast and generous sized greens, bit of trouble waiting for you for that bad shot, watter and well place bunkers........well if you havent played it yet.......you have too.

Paul Young (England) 25/07/05

Just played Robin Hood for the first time today and have to say how impressed we were. Cross-cut fairways looked great and were in excellent condition and the greens were fast, true & well presented. Certainly the best and most well-tended course in the Doncaster area with superb scenery & mature trees.

However, please note that the midweek green fee is now £20 rather than the £12 stated on this website (I got a nasty shock when I paid in the pro shop); I don't know what the weekend green fee has now been increased to.

Very long course off the white tees, with all four of the par 3s being in the region of 200 yards. A couple of neverending par 5s as well, with infuriatingly placed mature trees in the middle of fairways. If you aren't a big hitter then you may struggle to put a decent score together here.

All in all a good day out, but £20 was just a tad too expensive for my liking (I know, another tight Yorkshireman). Would be a great value day out with a '2-4-1' voucher, which they do accept. However, I can understand the increase in price if it is to encourage a more upmarket golfing clientele, as a couple of nearby courses are plagued by golfers who lack manners, shout a great deal and have no golfing etiquette whatsoever. If this is the case, the course seem to have achieved their goal.

I did find it funny that myself and my colleague were the only two people on the course who were walking; the regular members were all buggy-drivers who played far too fast and this did detract from the day slightly. Golfers who drive around in buggies miss the whole point of golf: gentle exercise, admiring the scenery between shots, chatting to your mate and, most of all, enjoying being out of the office!!!

These people who tried to drive around the course in under 90 minutes today spoiled what would otherwise have been a perfect round of golf.

THE COURSE IMPROVES EVERY TIME I PLAY WITH THE FAIRWAYS BEING NARROWED AND ALL THE PLATATIONS 'IN PLAY' THIS COURSE AS I PREDICTED 6 YEARS AGO IS NOW A TOUGH TEST OF GOLF. PLAY IT OFF THE WHITE TEES ON COMPETITION DAY AND SEE HOW YOU DO WITH A CHAMPIONSHIP LENGTH COURSE. GLENN B

What a great value course. Good test of golf with some very long holes.

Easy walking because it is very flat. The greens were in great shape for the time of year.

Will certainly return as this was the scene for my first ever hole in 1 at the par 3 third

Just Started playing golf again, and gave this course a go, I must say i was impressed, The course is long even off the yellow tees, and tests your Driving Skills With fairly tight Fairways, the rough is Short however, which makes it very playable even if your drives do go astray..The greens are well Kept .. They do a Twilight deal which gets you a round of golf including a Buggy for 2 for £10 each, hows that for a bargain! Will definately play this course again!

Stewart Barton (England) 19/09/03

this course is not very challenging on the whole, due to the amount of relief away from staked trees, witch is not punishable because you get a free drop away from them thus giving a false score. this relief is on just about every hole.

Challenging course that will mature very quickly. The new water feature will make the 14th hole a good test from the white tees. Let down by the position of water features on the fair ways, and a poor bunker on the 13th fairway. All in all good especially with 2 for 1 ticket...not tried club house yet

I think this is a very good course and will get better as it matures. I played in a four ball using '2-fore-1golf' vouchers, paying only £11 each on a Sunday morning, a bargain. I'll certainly be playing there again. The fairways are cut tight and the greens excellent. Some really challenging holes, even off the yellows.

The course is a long and at times a trying test of stamina. The development of water hazards on the 10th and now 14th makes for some interesting club choices - all-in-all it is a nice course to play, not too difficult, although keeping the ball on the fairway is beneficial if not essential. Well worth playing with the friendly clubhouse a bonus.

This course has come along way since it was first built. It is now a very good course, both challenging and testing. Well worth the money. Also, the reception in the clubhouse for Societies is very good with nice food.

Very dull course with its length being its only defence.Fairways poorly defined, found myself playing on to what i thought was fairway only to discover my ball in the rough. Greens were well maintained. Take a trolley as the course is very flat and easy on the legs.

Impressive Clubhouse, shame about the shocking golf course. This, even at £12 a round, is a waste of money. One hole had the flag and normal sized hole in the middle of the fairway, the grass not even shortened around the hole. If you are reading this in the year 2030, it may be worth a visit as the trees would have grown to might it slightly better.
