I found it ok, some parts were easy, others were annoying, especially that shot over the ravine where you had to avoid other golfers coming back along the path. I also felt the motorbikes rode by the local chavs spoilt it a lot. Fairgo theres a public footpath but does the course really need all the open access points where the bikes can come and go as they please. I have been to the course a few times and always hear them, either on the course or on the bridlepath that runs beside the 10th hole. Why arent the gates locked on the public footpath now. Why does no one else complain so we can get rid of them.

Other than that the clubhouse was good and particularly like the shot round the pond.

What can i say is first i saw the 2nd half of the built when i was a wee lad. Played a bit of golf in them days I have been back there over the last few years and what a different place it is and the condition has come on a long way since it was built 15 year ago and is getting better. My fav holes must be the water holes and that long par 4 just before the par 3 on the front nine(think its hole 7)

Considering people are slaging the place off with the dress sence i think it has been well used and the area of hetton le hole i dare say it has got people onto the golf course that you would never get onto it if there was a dress code

As to been tough i have played it in the last to years and is now looking forward to playing chester le street but will have to be a different person as it seems that they are ever so posh

I was a member of this club for about 3 year and loved every min of it,fair enough on a sunday they would only be about 18 or 20 of us in the comp,but it was a good crack on the course and in the 19th(BAR).The layout is 2nd to none,i have not played for some time now but i will have to go back up for a round and see some of the lads who i used to play with,i know it's hard with the kids and that but keep up with the good work!!!

I was a member from 1996 - 1998 and enjoyed playing in the competitions. Then Sunderland MBC let it out to a private provider (Golf Course Management), and as it was mooted that green fees were to increase, most members went elsewhere. HOWEVER, when I used to play, the rough used to be vicious (especially the 1st, 5th and 7th, and others)This has been much improved to the benefit of the wayward golfer!. I have played the course 4 times in the last 8 months. Yes, it is not the best course in the world (on a number of holes, there is still another hole & cup visible, and no rakes for bunkers), but it is still a fairly challenging course, and the price reflects the overall conditions.

I am not a golfer however i do walk my dogs around the course. These are never let off the leads and I always stick to either the rough/tree areas or the path, so would golfers please be considerate enough to myself and stop hurling abuse at me, when i am doing nothing wrong and i am doing my best to stay out of your way. Im sure many of you will have seen the man with the golden retrievers who just walks straight across fairways and greens allowing his dogs to steal the balls, please trust me my dogs arent like that so show a little respect like i show to you

As a regular golfer i play elemore about once a month,it is a mixture of difficult holes and relativly easy holes adding to the water feature holes makes the layout very good.

I understand reading previous feedback that improving greens/fairways/bunkers has to come from the course owners-fair enough but the dress code or lack of could easily be smartened up-I am no stuck up person and i enjoy the course but feel players playing in workboots,in jeans and no tops on drinking lager on the course does it no favours
