I live local and played here for the first at the back end of the summer when most courses looked baron. Most of the course was in excellent condition, the first 9 was nice with some intresting holes. The back 9 is a bit up and down.
The only thing that let this course down was the guy in the pro shop who was rude and couldnt care less. Other than that it was a great day and great course.

When I first played this course in winter I wasn't particularly impressed, finding most of the holes pretty average and the course pretty averagely maintained. Though reasonable value given its cheap price. It can be summed up by the view from most holes being dominated by the massive cooling towers of the nearby Didcot power station.
However, when I played it a second time in summer I considerably uprated my appreciation of the course. In particular, the greens were excellent, being true and very fast. Although I still felt the layout of the par 4s and 5s was fairly non descript, the par 3s represent an interesting challenge and are unforgiving if you miss the green. Very cheap golf on a 241.

I'll always have time for hadden hill, due to the fact i used to play here a lot as a kid and i also did my work experience here ( I crashed a greenkeepers buggy in the ditch that separates holes 8 and 18, don't ask but is was funny) As people have already noticed the front 9 is a tidy lay out but the back 9 is a bit of a treadmill and that remains hadden hills biggest problem. I feel the investment made when buying and creating the back 9 could have been better spent turning the front 9 into a really solid if not spectacular 9 hole course that would have filled a void in the area. Not everyone always has the time to play 18 and the mix of holes on the front nine provides u with the chance to use most shots in your bag and perhaps could have been marketed as some sort of express golf course. It really is worth playing the front 9 if your in the area and i count the par 3 7th as one of, if not my favorite par 3's. How a hole of just over 100 yards can cause the problems i have seen it cause over the years is beyond me but hay, that's the beauty of golf.

I am a junior at Haden Hill and through excellent tuition by the resident pro's have managed to obtain a handicap of 24 at the age of 13. I like the forgivingness of the holes, each one different so you can go from the long par 5 1st to the (very) short par 4 2nd. The facilities are excellent, having a good putting green an range combination. 9/10!

I have played at Hadden Hill frequently in the last 2 years. I agree with the comments previously made. The front 9 are very nice and a good challenge. The back 9 play straight and require accurate shots. However, the hardest Par 3 is on the back 9 (the 14th)...a very nice hole to play nearest the pin. The greens are ALWAYS open...they drain well, however, they are very hard to read due to excessive pin pricking for drainage. This is a very good course for those with a handicap of 18 or over...as it is quite forgiving...just don't get in the deep rough!

The ground does get soggy in the wet but if you are in the fairway you are fine. The greens aren't always true but after the big tournament they are like now. The back nine is a lot longer and testing for the bad driver, and the front nine if you aren;t accurate on second shots and so. The ground gets very hard in the summer as Oxfordshire is a clay area and dries up. In all, it is open for everyone with a few restrictions, if you want to start your children in golf there are good facilities for that, as i know myself being a junior member for the second year now. The pro shop workers are very helpful and friendly, a very good day out.
