Impressive. Got pelted with hale coming down the second and still enjoyed the round. A very challenging course with some superb holes. 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 14th, 15th and 18th were all good. Plenty of water and tree lined fairways, good bunkers and greens and a more than reasonable price for what you get. Putting green seemed a little silly - huge slope in the middle and nowhere to really practice lag putts. Didn't notice a driving range. The drive to the clubhouse was interesting...

Played this course over the weekend (07/08/04) and enjoyed it very much. The greens were in superb condition and the rest of the course was not far behind. In fact I think the course as a whole is in good nick. If I were to have any complaints it would be that on about 50% of the holes you got a board showing you the hole and yardage etc and 50% did not. So half the time you were playing blind as there is also no map on the back of the card. And the Par 3's are al very gentle, 8 iron max. Otherwise a fine course, that I am considering joining. Go, its well worth a round!

Played this course on 27th December 2002 following excessive rain and the greens compare favorably to any I have played all year. Course was long and challenging but did not punish unfairly. Staff were very pleasant and welcoming and I was so impressed by the course I am looking to become a member in the next couple of weeks. Each hole represents a different challenge, looking forward to playing it many more times.

Used to be member for the first fours years of its life and it was always an interesting course to play as virtually all the holes are testing and different so I was interested to go back after it has had a chance to mature.
Clubhouse is still a friendly, welcoming and busy place with good changing facilities unfortunately the Chinese has closed as their food was excellent but the more traditional food offered was still good.
The next major change i noted was the much improved practice facilities with a 20 bay floodlit range with 6 other grass tees with proper greens to aim at. And there is an actual 19th hole for those squared matches to be settled.
Now for the course, well there are still staked trees everywhere but they are growing rapidly and in five years time when they are no free drops this WILL be the hardest course in Essex. 1st & 10th are the only 2 holes that are similiar but are both stiff challenges at the beginning of a nine. The greens still have a great deal of undulation which make 3 puts common but the greens were a little fluffy. Fairways have come on enormously but there is little rough as the staked trees are close to the fairways.
The third 520yd Par 5 has had a lake added to catch a wayward second. The 4th a downhill Par 3 protected by a lake which has now been extended to include a 3 tier waterfall, picturesque in an Essex sort of way. The SI 1 5th was always a tough hole but they have now extended the lake right across the fairway to make it more daunting. The rest of the course is much the same but none the less a great test, the 14th is a lovely Par 3 and the 9th is an underated Par 5. The course is on top of a hill so the wind can also play a part.
Only real winge were the bunkers were a little scruffy.
Oh and there was one other change, not content with having a 595yd Par 5 18th from the yellows 655yds from the Blacks with OB down the right and a lake down the the left of last 150yds by the green, it was felt necessary to move the back tees back to 800+yds to make a Par 6. Anyone feeling the urge to play from there would be advised to check the tee when they play the 4th, Black tees alongside each other. Abseiling down the North Face of the Eiger is less daunting.
Yellows are a great test but if you think one of your friends is getting full of himself get him to play of the Blacks that will put hime back in place.
Try it great fun!

the first is very imposing...long, uphill and challenging.... just like the rest of the course.
very open because of its virginity..a few years time and this course will be demanding in its accuracy and challenging pin position's...a good course for all handicaps..but fitness needs to be of a reasonable standard...greens are tidy and thoughtfull.....

very good course it makes you think about every shot, but the course is a little over played and some people still leave pitchmarks ,also i found lots of damage made by spikes.]
