The Bridlington Links Player Reports
PAUL LALLY (England) 27/05/06
I played this course in early May 2006. Despite recent rain, the course was in superb condition,a pleasure to play on. Many of the holes are parkland rather than links style and a little bland, but the par-5 3rd,twisting its way between bunkers and small lakes,is a classic. The following hole is a very inviting par-3,and the 9th is another beauty with a tricky shot to the green over water. The back 9 contains holes along the clifftop which are an absolute joy.
The rough is pretty punishing, but you have to be quite wayward to find it. I played 36 holes in the day (decent value at £25),and only missed a couple of fairways, which says far more about the generosity of the fairways than about my driving!
The course probably becomes a different beast when the wind gets up. Well worth a visit.

I played this course in early December on a fine sunny day. The course was in top condition, able to play off the teeing areas and there were no tempory greens. With the odd exception the fairways are generous and the rough cut to sensible levels. The greens though slightly woolly looking were unpredictable and a challenge. Not easy to gauge the speed. There are many well placed bunkers along the course and several well concieled ponds that counter balance the generosity of the fairways. In summary a very good and well looked after course. Very good value at only £13.50p green fee which included soup and sandwich in the clubhouse. There are great views of Bridlington Bay on some of the back nine holes. I look forward to visiting this course in summer.

I have just returned from a short break in the Bridlington area area. While there I managed to have a game at The Bridlington Links Golf Course. I was a little concerned, having read in a previous correspondents comments that the fairways where very narrow and the semi very high?
I had a wonderful round the fairways were very wide and the semi a quite acceptable length, I used a 3 wood to play out when necessary. Yes the rough was terrible but you had to be pretty bad to go in this. I read a notice in the clubhouse which says that the rough has to be kept long for the local wildlife, but it caused me no problems. I am a 22 handicap player

The improvements at the Links over the last two years have been tremendous. The greens are outstanding but beware of the rough because if you go in you will find it extremely difficult to get out. A real challenging but impressive course. But I think it's good for both high and low handicappers as the fairways and fair, a real 'links' course. Excellent food in the restaurant, a driving range and a 9 hole course also available for warming up before your game.

Played the course three times in the last two years and unfortunately this year the course setup was awful. The greenkeeper has been watching too many Opens. The fairways were narrow and the rough was ridiculous. It took over 3 hours to play 12 holes. After that we went home after we met a a group of over 10 players waiting to play the 13th. Apparently everyone was slow due to looking for lost balls in the jungle. Pity because I used to rate it as one of my favourite courses.

Played this course four or five times when it was still fairly new. I was impressed with its condition and with the whole set-up. Catering was superb.
