Part of the Crown Golf group Paultons really surprised me when I returned here in February following an absence of a couple of years. I have played the course several times over the last six or seven years and remember it in winter as a bit of a quagmire but following a recommendation from a friend I thought I would go back and give it a go and I was hugely impressed. Well maintained the greens were in excellent condition for the time of year (February) and despite recent substantial rain the fairways were firm. The only disappointment wa the number of mats on the tees.
It is not the most challenging course you will play with some very open hole but holes 11 through 14 are played between mature trees and several holes feature water hazards that can ruin a decent score.
Some excellent early bird and twilight deals make this course excellent value for money.

Very nice course in great condition. Not a great challenge with trees or water only on a few holes but highly enjoyable. Staff very pleasant. Well worth a visit. Many thanks

Recently went round the par 3 course while on holiday in the area and was pleasantly surprised.
The greens, often neglected on short courses, were a good size and well cared for. The uphill holes are quite challenging, although nothing longer than a good 4 iron.
I was also impressed with the staff at Paultons (thanks for the loan of the clubs) and lunch was pleasant and good value.
The 18 hole course looks good with plenty of mature trees and next time I'm in the area that's where I'm heading.

Love the fact that you get to view the water hole on your car journey towards the club house. I'm sure it gives new comers a few jitters. That hole looks much longer from the tee.
You only get to hear the noise from Paultons Park on 8th green and 9th tee, and in the 7 years that I've sliced and hooked my way round the course its not effected my game.
Course is good in all weathers, my best score in driving rain (much to friend Simon's annoyance) shows the terrific hard work of the groundskeepers.
Buggies also available to hire, if you want a little extra help to your game. (or want to make your mate feel travel sick eh Mark)

Paultons is an excellent course and quite varied.
It's kept in good condition and so far this winter have had very few temp tees and no temp greens.
Front 9 is interesting and has a nice downhill opening hole.Hole 3 gives you an indication of what you may find on the back 9 as it's quite a tight par 3 and amongst the trees. Hole 15 over the water is a great hole(only if you get it over). I think hole 13-17 will decide whether you have a good or bad round as these are tough holes.
A really good course that is a little pricey but does not get boring. The par 3 course is excellent and worth a go just to practice.

HI
I love playing the golf course it is in a lovely setting, can get a bit busy on weekends but still you mange to move at a reasonable pace.
The only downside for my friends and I is the cost in the clubhouse after a round. The drinks are a little expensive as we do not drink alcohol. But I suppose that is par for the course in most clubhouses.
