Hennerton Golf Club Player Reports

I Have to agree with previous reports, very uninspiring course and extremely short- 8 par 3's.A lot of holes need no more than a wedge and no point taking a driver out at all.No yardage markers probably because 150yard markers are not needed on most holes and course is squeezed into a small area especially the front 9.If you are looking for a beginners course or a pitch and putt one evening then this is ok.Good club house ,Nice greens, friendly staff and good views but what a shame about the course little challenge and will not be returning .

Played here midweek September 07 (£7 using a 2 FORE 1 voucher).
Fairly uninspiring parkland course featuring 8 par 3's.It was peaceful & in a pleasant setting & isn't a bad little set up.There are a couple of interesting drop down par 3's on the front 9 but apart from these there were few memorable holes.I found that on the run of the mill back 9 the holes were starting to become a drag.
Course presentation was decent although the fairways still had that "newish" feel to them & not the lush feel you get at more established courses. Also a few marker posts wouldn't have gone a miss as well as better hole signage in places.
Although it was at bargain basement price & it's fine for what it is it's not a course that would inspire me to return.

I have played the original 9 holes on a number of ocassions and found it a pleasant round of golf with very picturesque views over the Thames Valley. I have just played it for the first time since they expanded to 18. The new holes are unusual, and the course designer has shown a lot of imagination in fitting the extra holes into such small area. The new 9 are however very short, and off the yellows you need to leave your woods in the bag; indeed on several holes you need nothing more than a light wedge off the tee. The greens on the new holes are disproportionately enornmous and heavily contoured, but were very slow when I played them. An interesting challenge; some may see it as being touch eccentric, but it will give you something to talk about in the clubhouse after your round.

This is currently a 9 hole course that's soon to expand to 18.
Most of the 9 holes you can play aren't going to test the better players, but there are some good holes here none the less.
The 9th is a tough finishing hole, while the 6th and the 7th have some great views on offer.
Worth playing, even if it's only as a fix after work in the summer.
Great little course.

Hennerton is one of the best 9 hole courses that I have played. It has none of the 'converted field' feel that some courses in the area have, and though some of the holes are short, either the blind tee shot or the tight approach make them a challenge. The 7th is a picturesque and difficult hole, and the 9th is a long, tight finish to the round. I've played the course throughout the year and as stated above the drainage is excellent.
The views are lovely and I'd be happy to recommend the course and its professionals to everyone. If I had a gripe it would be the price of the green fees - £14.00 for nine holes is expensive.

I have just played this course to within 3 of my 21 handicap despite near gale force conditions .I n short this is not the most difficult of courses but nice all the same . The good points are the good drainage, nice greens ,nice views ,clubhouse nad the general set out of the course .O n the downside at £ 10.00 for 9 holes even during the week its not cheap and if you play it for the first time you will be unhappy with the lack of course info . I n short this appears to amount to 1no 150 yd post and a very small hole map with no bunkers marked .6/10 .

Quite an entertaining 9 hole course with some lovely views over the Thames Valley. The holes make very good use of the natural contours even if the course feels slightly crammed in. The only thing which detracted from our enjoyment was nearly being hit twice by following players teeing off too early. This is in part due to some of the players attracted by the pay and play policy which makes the course very busy at times but to be fair a number of the holes are blind.
