Played here in September 2003.
A most enjoyable place to play. For £15 weekend green fee represents excellent value for money. Lots of variety with 3 or 4 Par 4's under 300 yards although with tightish dog legs which means only medium irons off the tee. Several of the greens are multi tiered and this course actually provides quite a test. There are also a couple of quite daunting tee shots where there are trees coming across you from the right and the ability to hit the ball left to right is a big advantage. Course could with a little tidying up but would rceommend it to all.

This could be a fantastic course. We played on a Saturday at 9am and didn't see a greenkeeper all round. Consequently none of the bunkers were raked or greens swept of dew and they were the slowest I've ever played. There are many doglegs, and without the aid of a strokesaver to know the yardage to the bend they were extremely difficult. On several holes the next tee was far too close to the green and made approach shots a bit nervy and the air was alive with FORE!. On one the faiway narrowed near the green with OOB on the right and the next tee was on the left at the narrowest point, this is madness. We got the impression that there really wasn't enough land for 18 holes. With a good strokesaver this course would be a good test for a mid handicapper, but I wouldn't want to be playing near beginners. Spike bar is cheap with good food available and a nice veranda to relax on. Well worth a visit.

Alton is good value for money set amongst nice countryside .The main part of the course requires good straight hitting off the tee before opening out on the last holes .The secret appears not to be to greed on the mid and inviting short par 4 holes .You should also get a good welcome and have a good day out .
6/10

This course is good value for money and certianly one I would reccomend . From the clubhouse you will get a nice welcome and then go out on a course that starts tight and only opens out towards the end .The major requirement is good straight driving in particular with regard to the dog legged middle holes . A nice course for the mid to high handicapper but not for someone starting out . 7/10

This is a nice course that is very good value for money .The course is set in nice countryside and is tight on the opening holes before opening up on the last few .Anyone mid handicap golfer or above should have a good game .7/10 .
