Chelsfield Lakes Golf Centre Player Reports

Played here three or four times since I moved relatively close and have to say that for my standard of golfer (currently 22 handicap) it's a great course.
Opening hole is fairly straight forward, then holes 2, 3 & 4 are quite challenging with a long par 3, a dog leg par 4, then the hardest hole on the course with OB right & loads of rough stuff on the left.
Coming back to halfway is a mix of par 4's and two decent size par 5's (second of which very reachable in two)
Back 9 starts with some nice holes & point scoring opportunities for stableford play, but 16, 17 and 18 provide the hardest 3 holes of the back nine.
Really like it and for any golfer playing off or around the 20 handicap mark, it gives you the chance to put in a round nearer 80/85 that a lot of courses don't

Played at the lakes on a warm July 15th Sunday. Took about 4 1/2 hrs ok. Tees were good. Fairways very good and greens very good. Not the longest course in the world @ 5700yds. We played in a society and the lowest score was 33pts and the highest was 44pts. A few very good holes and a few not so memorable. I thoght the stroke indexes were a bit strange playing off 14, I got shots on short par 3's and not on a par 5 which seemed harder. Not much to winge about. No yellow distance markers on the par 3 tees so had to pace out from red tees.Worth a go and will probably go back for a change.

First visit here today. Compared to the other golf centres/clubs run by the same company in the area that i have played at, this is the best. Considering all the rain we have had lately, the course was in good all round condition. Some people will moan about this and moan about that, but £20 for the round, you get good value for money.

played here in a society at the end of 2006, i would say that the course was in good condition and the staff were friendly enough, although they did close the bar around us as we were drinking at about 6:30 in the evening???
the course itself is a bit bland with far to many holes a replica of the last only counted 2 lakes??
i was very new to the game then and even i thought it wasnt very challenging.
we probably wouldnt go back, but we still had a good day,but that was probably the company not the course.

Played the course yesterday, on a Saturday afternoon, and the first 9 holes took just over 3 hours to complete, with the whole round taking about 5 and a half hours. This is a real problem, and no sight of any marshalls! The club shop do have a problem with just saying yes to anyone who turns up, and not unusual to have 3 or 4 groups in front at the 1st tee.
Having said that, I do find the course enjoyable to play, with the front nine a little more challenging than the back, and some true well kept greens.
Will play again, but will definately avoid the weekend.
